The Federal Government has revoked the contract for the reconstruction of Ajaokuta-Itobe-Okene highway in Kogi State. The government decision was made public Saturday by the Federal Controller of Works in the state, Engineer Kajogbola Olatunde while speaking with newsmen shortly an assessment of the Ajaokuta-Itobe Bridge which was alleged to have suffered structural defect.

Engineer Olatunde said the contract was revoked due to underperformance by the firm handling the project, Scoa Motors.

He said the contract would be rewarded to a more competent contractor. He said the federal government was unhappy with the slow pace of work by the contractor even after he was being adequately mobilized.

The Controller pointed out that the contractor has shown little competence to handle such magnitude of work and that the federal government in response to concerns of commuters have no option than to rearward it to a more competent contractors.

On the Ajaokuta-Itobe Bridge, he said it has not suffered structural defects but vandalisation of the electrometric rubbers covering the expansion ts.

I was taught in my secondary school days that govt is a continuous process, u take both the good and bad of the past istration. Improve on the good once and correct the bad once.
So this shouldn't be a big deal, that past istration u are trying to run down because of this road project, constructed a rail project that your minister of transportation is forming or showing himself as the initiator of the project.

Awarded under the istration of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the 60km Itobe-Ajaokuta-Okene Road has suffered setback in the hands of the contractor, subjecting motorists to suffering of unimaginable degree.

Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Yahaya Bello has made countless visits to the minister of Power, Works and Housing, lamenting the snail speed approach of the contractor handling this particular road that has caused untold hardship to the commuters.

It was disclosed on Friday, that the Federal Government has revoked the contract for the reconstruction of this highway in Kogi State.
The controller explained that the contract to reconstruct the 60 km highway was signed in 2015 to Scoa Motors but lamented that after five years, no substantial work was done which necessitated the government to withdraw the contract.

This, and all other federal roads in Kogi state will be taken care of under the current istration.

Oga Gej just dey award anyhow, imagine Scoa motors. I wondered how they will be able to complete the road in stipulated time n how the road will last long self. Kudo to PMB, please revoke any contract if the contractor are not ready to work or working at millipede rate. Enough of subjecting the road to undue trauma.
Same with Julius Berger company as well. They knw how to manipulate us and get the work unnecessary prolonged.
How I wished we can get better contractor from developed Nation like Japan that construction of 50km road is completed within a month

What is your problem on who taking credit?
Awarding of contract is different from releasing of fund and executed of project.
There is teaching hospital awarded during Muritala/Obasanjo military regime in my town that ed through different regimes until later built by Obj during his second tenure as civilian president n completed by late president Umar Yaradua.
Award is just a paper work, anyone can do that but executed of the project is the main thing n who carry the glory is less concerns of the citizens.
That is what we elected to do.

Bloody liar. Who told you they do not have money to buy prepaid meter or they are the ones preventing the circulation of prepaid meter.

Oga, prepaid meter plenty for Nigeria. So much to go round. Tell the federal government to impose strict laws to force them to open the platform for programming and let's see if there will not be prepaid meter all over Nigeria within a month.
