It is either such budget downward reviews are expected to accommodate the new wage bill or the governors have decided to dedicate over 90% of the budget to recurrent expenditure. It is also possible those governors don't plan to pay the new salary. 9 Likes |

Every state should hold their Governors responsible for this and much more. Their governors should be able for each kobo spent. It is no more business as usual. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Oil price has remained chronically low. Time to tighten the seatbelts. Obvious that this government's talk about diversification is just that...talk. 1 Like |

If other states agree on the minimum wage, I doubt the State of Osun. The state is really in a mess.

Some states just presented unrealistic budget. Just look at a poor state like Ebonyi, please tell me how they can even begin to fund this budget. Is it that they have suddenly grown their poor IGR to 50b per annum or that their federal allocation which is among the least in Nigeria has suddenly grown to 100b per annum? Most of the budgets will end in deficit. 3 Likes |

Some states are just being truthful by reducing their budgets. How many states have ever implemented their annual budgets to 100%?. For a state like Cross River that keeps proposing trillion naira budgets every year, does that state have the resources to finance such budgets? Even Lagos, Kano, Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom with enormous resources don't propose budgets like Cross River state.

They know very well that they engage in useless spending. They buy all sorts of exotic cars that they don't even use. Nigeria is the only country were a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor also has several special assistants. OUR LEADERS SHOULD REPENT IN 2020. God will hold them able for their deeds. |
