The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, has pleaded with all APC state governors to implement the N30,000 minimum wage and the consequential adjustments. Oshiomhole made the plea on Monday in Jos at the Federal Government- Progressives Governors Forum parley in Jos.

“As progressives, let us be the first to pay the new national minimum wage and not just the wage but also the consequential adjustments arising from it. Already, there are some proactive progressive governors that have taken steps to address this.

“I plead that you give this a priority, because when other governors are fighting whether or not to pay, you will say that progressive governors have paid. Where there is will, there will certainly be a way,” he said.

The APC national chairman also called on the APC governors to border closure by the Federal Government. He said that the nation’s borders should remain closed until neighboring countries follow the protocols of fair trade.

Oshiomole in an interview with journalists, also lent his to financial autonomy for local governments in the country. He said that local government autonomy was not negotiable. According him, just as the Federal Government does not control a state governor on how to manage his money, so should the state governors allow the local governments to function.

He added that local governments should be allowed to operate the same way states operate with the Federal Government exercising oversight function.

“Local governments should be autonomous, but autonomy doesn’t mean there should not be oversight. The same way the Federal Government goes after a state Governor that breaks the financial rules, the same way state governors should go after a local government that mismanages revenue that accrue to it,” he said.

Good bless you! I used to tell my friends back then in school that Oshiomhole failed as NLC chairman. E no get any time wey Oshiomhole NLC go on strike because of fuel increment, then government con reduce am to the former price. Obj just dey use Osho dey catch cruise back then.

The priority of any serious boss should be the happiness of his staffs. You don't need to be persuaded to motivate your employees

Where is the 'human face' in governance?

Woke up with strength and vigour this morning and was up to face today with all hopes and aspirations but was sad & almost started crying after watching this video.

I've been an advocate of leaders been strong at all time with will power to carry out leadership responsibilities. And that emotional leaders don't go far but certainly not this way.

In leadership and governance, there's a place for 'Human face' no matter the circumstances. Widows to the best of my knowledge are integral part of our society and if we don't apply human face when dealing with them, am afraid we are far from getting there as a people.

Two wrongs indeed can never make things right and as such, can't fathom why the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams A. O. will treat this widow like this and even tell her to go and die when she's struggling to provide food for her family. I think it would've been far better to make her pay a fine for her wrong doing than this humiliation.

The agony of the poor in our society......
