Few weeks after the closure of the nation’s land borders, daily petroleum consumption had dropped from 60million litres per day to 52million litres per day, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, said yesterday.
Sylva said this when he inaugurated a team of 89 persons drawn from five key agencies to ensure transparency and ability in the distribution of petroleum products across the country.

He said the team would help to authenticate the actual volume of products imported and consumed in the country and ensure that the nation attains energy security.

of the team were drawn from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Department of Petroleum Resources, Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, Petroleum Equalization Fund and the Department of State Security.

What the foreign countries are doing to Nigerians warrants that the boarders be closed. At least they will know how important we are in promoting their market and in boosting their economy. PMB all the way....

Enemy of progress are the ones pressuring the government to open our borders for illegal smuggling.

Before you start insulting me...I hope you are aware it was a partial closure... and it is open for those doing legitimate business.

Nonsense Buhari govt likes deceiving Nigerians with useless data , Can the Buhari govt tell Nigerians that under Jonathans govt daily fuel consumption was 26 million litres a day only to grow to 60 million litres a day under Buhari "miraculously " ..Instead of the lying govt celebrating 52 million litres a day they should explain to Nigerians how daily fuel consumption rose from 26million litres a day in 2014 to a whooping 60 million litres a day under Buhari despite no increase in the number of cars Nigerians have bought and increased petrol prices .

nothing to celebrate here, cos if all the agencies and NNPC departments are working effectively, there wont be need to close our borders. they should monitor the distributions. its their job

Buhari will go down in history as the best Nigerian president.
He has the balls to take decisions that will move the country forward.
If the likes of Bola Tinubu are the best we Yorubas can put forward, then our constitution should be amended so that GMB can continue beyond 2023. (The Igbos should never be allowed to smell that seat).
