The photo above shows a traffic policeman on duty in Lagos in the 1940s.

Note the manual traffic control device in front of the policeman. A side of the device has the “Stop” on it, while the other side has the “Go on” on it.

The traffic official rotates the device to indicate to motorists whether to stop or Go on.

Hmmm

I'm very sure it was more effective and less chaotic than the so-called automatics of today.

Yes!

Because there were less vehicles and light traffic, as opposed to many vehicles and heavy traffic we have today

Yes bro, I was alive then.

It was indeed a great time to be around with none of the present crazes going on.

Interesting innovation.

Back then, only educated people drove vehicles and so could read the signs. The illiterates driving Dangote trucks, Danfo in Lagos and those Suzuki buses in Aba that look like sardine tins were nowhere to be found then.

It will be far better than what is in Nigeria now.
I'm not even sure they're working properly.

Keep blaming others for your misfortune.

As at 2010, OAU Ife had more traffic lights than the entire south east.
