Yes. I agree. When the right people have the right opinion about you, you are going places. I earned respect and a good reputation with my managers by being consistent and productive. They have recommended me for more opportunities than I ever dreamt of assuming I allowed their previous opinion of me linger. Dont try to please everyone; find out those that matter and strive to please them because their opinions can make the difference between where you are and where you can be.

I don't know why people equate wisdom with financial status... Wisdom can be gotten from anyone.

That's just a symptom of a money obsessed society like Nigeria. As much as I love money (because it helps me enjoy life to the fullest, as a hedonist), and hustle strategically everyday to secure the bag, I don't give a rat's ass about the 'wsdom' or opinion of any rich mofo.

As a man about town who happens to be blessed with good judgment, I know for a fact that most people who have lots of money (legit and illegit) made it either through luck or through mindless consistency of effort, plus providence. It has nothing to do with wisdom. Even those who made it through the latter means, are just creatures/beneficiaries of habit.

I pick nuggets of wisdom from all and sundry. Including (or even especially) those who haven't made it yet because luck hasn't shone on them, or because they haven't been consistent enough to see the battle to a logical conclusion. But they know one or two things that I can use to improve my life and hustle. And I respect them for that, and shamelessly learn from them, and hold them in high esteem. Even if they're in tatters.

I WISH I KNEW THIS THINGS EARLY IN LIFE.MY COUSIN'S PARENT WERE VERY POOR HE HAD HIS PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION IN THE VILLAGE.AFTER SECONDARY SCHOOL HE CAME TO LAGOS ON HOLIDAY AT OUR AUNTY'S HOUSE AT IKOYI HE CHANGED HIS NAME TO TOKUNBO AND STARTED HUSTLING WHILE WE WERE IN THE UNIVERSITY.HE WAS VERY SOCIABLE HE MIXED WITH HIS NEIGHBOURS AND LIED THAT HE WAS BORN IN AMERICA.HE WAS ALSO A SMART DRESSER AND STARTED BUSINESS EARLY MAKING MONEY FROM DIFFERENT SOURCES.3 YEARS LATER HE ED US IN THE UNIVERSITY HE HAD HIS OWN MONEY AND ALSO SETTLING LECTURERS WHENEVER HE WAS NOT AROUND IN SCHOOL.AS AT THEN I DEPENDED ON MY DAD FOR EVERY PENNY AND STILL BELIEVED I WAS BETTER THAN HIM.IN HIS FINAL YEAR IN UNIVERSITY HE HAD BOUGHT 2 LANDED PROPERTIES IN LEKKI.HE HAD SECOND CLASS UPPER THEN THERE WAS NO YAHOO YAHOO.THE REST IS HISTORY.HE IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST BOYS IN LEKKI TODAY.FROM GRASS TO GRACE.

While we share the same view, I strongly disagree with your last statement.

If 9 out of 10 people call me a thief, then I'm probably a thief. The opinion of informed people matter a lot.

The other guy was simply typing balderdash using the name of Dangote, Mark, etc.

As per Dangote and the rest, they rely on the opinion of HR and other interview to identify a right candidate. If 8 out of 10 ists say you're not qualified, then you're not.

Saying opinion don't count is like saying opinion polling, surveys and votes don't count. It makes no sense.
