Sanwo-olu Unveils Five Pillars Of Development For Lagos by Nobody: 1:38pm On Jan 20, 2019
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has unveiled five pillars of development to take the state to the next level.

They include traffic management, health and environment, education and technology, entertainment and tourism and making Lagos a 21st century economy.

Speaking at the unveiling of Vision for a greater Lagos, held in Ikeja at the weekend, Sanwo-olu said there is urgent need to take the state to next level noting that Lagos as the commercial heartbeat of the nation contributes over 30 percent of Nigeria’s GDPs and 65 percent of her manufacturing activities.

He said: “I can promise that under my leadership, Lagos will be truly ready for business opportunities. I am determined to both propagate and defend these values in a sustainable manner through an inclusive governance approach that would be considerate to all.

Lagos is still a glorified village, in comparison to other world megacities, due to overpopulation and poor transport infrastructure. FG needs to as a matter of urgency start a decongestion effort to make it a liveable city. 40% of the people currently living there has to be "sent" to neighbouring Ogun and Oyo States like developed countries do.

And very importantly, it needs an urgent array of railway lines to ease up traffic congestion. According to Wikipedia, more than 70% of New Yorkers do not own vehicles (or they don't use it to commute to work); they use public rail transport. And that alone is a perfect traffic decongestion method.

Because it's very barbaric to hear that people spend an average of 3 hours+ every day on traffic when in cities like Abeokuta and Abuja, the longest time you can spend in traffic is 10-15 minutes and almost none existent most of the time.

Nice one from all the Apc governors. They are really working in their various state while their counterparts are busy wailing and looting

Prof should not worry, Buhari got this. If he is truly ready to serve, we will sure want him to come aboard the Next Level movement.

God bless Nigeria!

At least he has a plan. His main opponent is Agbaje - he will maybe release his after the election. Why will Tinubu not remain godfather when there is no real opposition in lagos.

The other way round actually. Tinubu has made Lagos what it is today cos he's been wise enough to pick brilliant chaps to maintain the excellence attributed to Lagos.

I am not sure what other states are, in your opinion (particularly your own state of origin, if you're not ashamed to mention it here), if you consider Lagos to be a glorified village.

Regarding decongestion, you're not far from the truth. But it is not for the federal government to decide how to decongest Lagos. That's still within the capacity and prerogative of the state government.

As a matter of fact, the Fashola istration made some decongestion attempt which turned out to be perceived as witchunt by the self acclaimed endangered ethnic group of Nigeria, even though other ethnic groups were involved.

I guess the "developers" are just dead-scared of returning to live in, and "develop", their own states of origin.
