Anambra To Mount Surveillance Cameras On Mango Trees

Raymond Ozoji, Awka

The Anambra State Government will soon launch CCTV Security Initiative in the state as the state executive council has approved the purchase of surveillance cameras for the purpose of watertight security.

This was made public by Governor Willie Obiano at an event in Awka where he explained that the surveillance cameras would be placed on mango trees as well as other strategic locations for crime detections.

He said the cameras were known as invincible eyes that would not be seen by anyone but would be installed in various places to detect criminal activities adding that millions of the surveillance cameras would be procured by the state government.

This is absurd... a better initiative would have been electricity poles

saying that it would be mounted on mango trees, means that it would be everywhere including electric poles, trees, traffic lights etc

This obiano should reduce cannabis intake.
What's going to power the so called cameras? I implore him to solve electricity and water problems in anambra before trying to find turn it to new York.
The step is a big one, there ar more pressing issues

In Nigeria, streetlights cables are being stolen, people risk their lives to steal from power Transformers.

Somebody will just climb there to get mangoes and take the cctv camera camera as extra
With time most Nigeria mentality would change, the government should try and provide basic amenities and watch how things will change for good.
If at least basic amenities are provided and available in Nigeria, it citizens will always try to do right and appreciate the government efforts.

Anambra is currently the state with the best governance structure in place. I was there recently coming from the North and I found out they have the best network of state govt built roads, most of the bad roads in the state are federal roads.

I met young experts working in the state agencies, some have gained experiences working abroad (not your average civil servants) and they just want to develop their state.
I just hope that other state govts including my own state will do a peer review and borrow some ideas from Anambra state.

Arepeople stealing the man goes?

Have they leave kidnapping to stealing mangoes?

Why ate they revealing the place where they want to hide the cameras?
