Yes iTunes backup. Make sure to do full backup. Whenever you want to restore to a new iPhone, all your data will be restored down to your call log.

1- make sure to use the latest iTunes version for back up.
2- make sure your iPhone is running the latest iOS.
3- it is safe to backup and restore to iPhones running the same version of iOS.

backup on icloud or a physcial drive like ur laptop hard drive and restore when u get ur iphone back. but i cloud is more safe because it will be there forever

bor at 89percennt ur battery should still be lastin very well. 80 79 is when u should be worried. i suggest u recalibrate your battery first
