Saharareporters has learned that the governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva and his Bauchi counterpart Isah Yuguda, paid for the mobilization of miscreants to clash with respected Nigerians who were organizing the rally to force Yar’Adua to resign. The source also accused the leadership of the National Assembly of aiding the would-be attackers of the SNG protesters.

SNG rally organizers told Saharareporters that beginning last week, they received consistent intelligence that Nigerian state governors who last week invaded the office of **Acting President Goodluck Jonathan to censure him were not happy about the planned rally. They saw the event as an affront on their authority which had asked that Jonathan remain “Acting President, while ailing Yar’Adua continues as “President.”

The group met last night at a secure location to review the threats of bodily harm against rally participants. This was critical as the Abuja Command of the Nigerian Police had also ordered that they stop the rally as their safety could not be guaranteed on of the threats even though the Inspector General of Police, Sylvester Ogbonna Onovo had given the participants his words that they will enjoy full police protection.
But the courageous participants decided they would go ahead with their rally regardless of the threats and danger to their lives since it is in the interest of Nigeria that the current political ime is resolved. Pastor Tunde Bakare, the fiery Lagos cleric and his colleague, Femi Falana told the gathering that they would lead the protest as they were prepared to die for the cause.
