If you are not familiar with MEND. They are the people who kidnap people around the Niger Delta area,

OK, Please all of you who or oppose the actions of M.E.N.D - Movement for the emancipation of the Niger Delta!!! Post a comment here!!

I am in full of there movement. I believe that this is a step backward but two steps forward for Nigeria!!! My Aunt is a very spiritual woman and she said to me recently that there will be alot of Bloodshed in April/May in Nigeria. This is a sign that God is going to intervene in the corruption situation in Nigeria!!!

BTW, we need alot of pictures here as well!!!

MEND may not prosper as intrigues and greed would definately set in.The organisation lacks some good coordination and objective goal. All the same they ve brought a lot of attention to the plight of the people in the Niger Delta. The region would definately be liberated someday, and that day seems quite close

See, people refuse to understand that our main problem in Nigeria is encircled with Corrupt culture and corrupt system. Even within MEND organization, pretty soon the group will realize that some of their are also heavily corrupt just like Nigerian leaders, who have deprived them of their wealth for many years.
Therefore the problem must be solved from the root.

Yes, they are getting a lot of attention, especially United States attention, which I consider to be an excellent strategy.  But as much as one wants to this group, one should also think profoundly about the whole situation. Yes, these people are not being treated properly; yes, the wealth is not being distributed equally and many locals are suffering just like another citizen of Nigeria in Nigeria; but is kidnapping the expatriates and obstructing oil factories is an answer?  I don't think so.
We should think about the long term effect and the future of our lovely country.
Believe me, their goal could be attained differently and more effectively.

Furthermore, if this group is successful in accomplishing their objective, I think it will send a wrong message to other part of Nigeria and there will never be an ending to this type of strategy in Nigeria.

Moreover, I do not think this group will ever be satisfied even if the Federal Government choses to work things out with them. Hence, regardless of the circumstances, I do not think it is appropriate for any government to embrace or acknowledge this type of strategy from any group.

We should never never bargain with terrorists or kidnappers; once we bargain with them, it gives them sense of purpose and they will never never go away. It will always be something after another and it will also send a wrong message to other potential terrorist groups all around the country.

The Federal Government should be firm and do the right thing by developing this area, but at the same time must also develop an effective strategy to disable this type of group once and for all.
Nigeria is a great nation with laws, hence it is time to reinforce and empower our constitution. Each and every single member of this group must be prosecuted.

Just because things are not going your way doesn't permit you to disobey or disrespect the law of the nation; they should be brutally dealt with.
Together as one, we should never never condone such behavior from any group. We are one and we can fight this war together the right way; we must respect ourselves and we must respect the law of our nation.

May God bless Sweet Nigeria.

Good talk from Big B1.Pls can any one help find answers to the following questions bugging my mind.
Why is that its only when the militants react , thats when the FG re the neglect of the area?
Why for Forty Years nothing happened in the area , when compared to Abuja?
Why so much talk on recommendations , resolutions on the Niger Delta , yet nothing is happening?

The people now refered to as MEND have always been there. They helped the State Governments and LGs get into power. They stole fuel, fought for control of towns etc. It was only when the military went in there that they stated talking about fighting for ND. And yet all the money they have made from the fastest growing business in the ND has not been used to develop the ND. It has been used to buy Cars and Build Mansions.

MEND: A bunch of blood hoodlums running wild in the name of fighting for freedom. Their approach to the cause is not feasible rather outright criminal and disgraceful. Ken Saro Wiwa never advocated violence. I cringe when i think about dispicable micreants like Dokubo Asari, Alams, Odili etc.

I do not the expoitation of the region and neither do i the the insurgency. I know there are brilliant Niger-Deltans represented in the goverment that can effect changes from within through dialogue, negotiations and other peaceful means with the Nigerian state. Truth be told, no level of insurgency by these hoodlums can destroy the Nigerian state.

I wonder why they were not this militant when murderers like Abacha was in charge? go figure. The Nigerian army is well and able to exterminate these criminals but for the fact that they hide behind innocent human shields like the cowards they are. A military offeensive against them now will result in the loss of thousands of innocent lives which will spark international outcry. This is the only reason MEND (animals) is still alive.

@lephillipe

Is your Aunt a prohetess of doom? It shouldnt be a thing of pride to predict bloodshed except one is a ,

Hmm!Can't see the correlation between your aunt's vision and MEND!Bloodshed right!MEND kidnaps foreigners, thank God they are well taken care of,but what of local officials,ie councillors, Assembly men, etc? The foreigners don't loot and pillage and share revenue allocation to their mistresses and kids. Thus they are not terrorists, rather misguided misbegotten criminals with no ideologue.Ken and Jasper Adaka Boro faced the FG. They did not take hostages. If hostage taking is a ploy to drive oil companies out fine. But receiving ransome smacks of criminality.
Lol, thinking of it MEND has been a tremendous success!!!

Things are getting better via your periscope from Ogudu GRA!What success have they achieved? Please i want to know.Really address this in your reder.MEND is a criminal organization with no intellectual wattage period.Ken was a martyr, but his ways were about getting militant when he was murdered. Afterall where are his disciples today?Sharing blood money from state and FG officials! You just don't get it!

Best thing said on this thread so far. The oil will not be there for ever, about time the goose that lays the golden egg is rewarded, this is what MEND is suppose to be fighting for. Sad thing though is, some of MEND are now doing exactly what they accuse others of doing.

Like with all Nigerian leadership comes corruption. i think it can be held in the group tho!
