Similar to what has happened in most states in nigeria of recent, makurdi the Benue state capital was hit with heavy downfall of rain this morning. This led to most of the smaller water channels to overflow their boundaries which led to massive flooding of many areas. The pictures below highlights the severity of the situation in wadata axis of the state capital , and hence the reason why the government needs to act fast before the next heavy downpour because it is definitely happening again soon. The flooded area seen below is a footpath with a poorly built drainage system and when the water came, it washed away the entire area destroyed properties worth huge amount of money and disrupted movement. but i heard recently that the federal govt disbursed money to areas that is been ravage by flood, hope d money will not end up in the pocket of their governor

You can do something about this by preventing further blockage. Dispose waste properly, dropping it carelessly is the reason for the poor drainage system and it's our collective fault. Dispose waste properly today! |
