And they don't want to understand that it is that centralisation and rigid of unity and conformity of a highly diverse language group without consultation of all parties involved during the colonial period is what has caused all of this problems in the first place. Most of these Igbo groups see 'Igbo' as an (old) Anambra and Imo hegemony and that is because of the historic centralisation in Enugu, Onitsha, Owerri, Umuahia.
So now you are saying it's the white man that put Igboland in the same situation they put Nigeria, through Amalgamation of Igboland? Continue I see what you are doing it only sad because some Igbo's will fall for this your antics.

However I will like to know this groups that are not supposed to be categorized as Igbo's that were also supposedly grouped with the Igbo's. While you are at it tell me what makes them differ from the so called Igbo's of old imo and Anambra that you refer too.

you folk can make up stories. One of you said the US ARMY buys drones in Onitsha market. It is embarrassing some of the stuff you come up with. How can you claim Onitsha had earlier with Europeans? That is a stupid lie. What exactly was going on at Onitsha before this so called ? How big was Onitsha and what was its population? You folk have no history of organisation beyond the clan level so do not try to paint a picture of an urban pre colonial Onitsha
Oga I won't have your time on this thread, if you want to die come to the waec thread or better still wait for the one I am cooking up grin

Ngozi thank you for that explanation, in as much as i don't want to discuss this on this thread I have to address it for those reading, because a lot of them might assume that fallacy to be true. It is true that Onitsha people in time past use to call neighboring communities ndi Ugbo which was later corrupted by the whites to Igbo and this was because like you rightly stated Igbo's were not under the singular umbrella of the word "Igbo" as every community was recognized by their various groups and clans from Ogbaru to Onitsha to Idemili, to Nsuka to Izza the list is endless, it was the coming other the Whites that put all under the umbrella Igbo because they were one people through religion, descendants, ancestry, customs, tradition, language etc.

The second second reason Onitsha natives referred to the other Igbo's as Ndi Ugbo, was because Onitsha had early with the white and their villages quickly developed to towns while the others where in the eastern hinterlands or heartlands and majority where farmers so each time the farmers came to Onitsha towns for trade of their farm produce the natives would refer to them as Ndi ugbo, meaning farmers which most eastern heartlanders were at the time nothing derogatory there.

About the Ancestry many Igbo have various ancestry and not all Igbos that migrated from Benin have Benin ancestry, also it should be noted that the fact the some migrated from Benin does not mean they were of Benin ancestry Igbo's were actively involved in Benin during its reign as Nri Kingdom was sometimes consulted for spiritual guidance, also many Igbo's settled and lived there. So don't be fooled by he ezeagu's antics I really used to like and take that guy seriously until this minute. Udo.

I actually believe that the majority of them have little to none Benin ancestry. There's only a few of them that can trace their ancestry to Bini people. It's rather telling that he had to use evidence from the colonial times to his argument that Onitsha people deny their Igbo heritage and even then, it was hardly conclusive.

Back on topic; the only way we can unite the various Igbo speaking peoples together on a large scale is to work together to improve our homeland- no village should be left behind. Also, we should embrace our diversity as it is something to be proud and not ashamed of. We could introduce some Igbo cultural schools, where children can learn about the different dialects, dances and histories of the various communities in Igboland. I might start one over here in the UK.

For the time being?
U bastards are hoping to accept your igboness and possible Biafran when the struggles becomes reality...... Forget about Biafra or anything igbo, you are not igbos and you can never be.

Please don't insult them; they are our brothers and sisters and must be treated as such. Some Ikwerres embrace their Igbo heritage so you shouldn't be discouraged by people who think like that.

I'm beginning to suspect this guy. What do you want to tell her on whatapp that you cant say here? Ngozi123 should be wary of this guy. Even if you are Ikwere as you claim, then you are at liberty to have your own opinion as a common man. Important and influential people from Ikwere are those whose opinion matters here. Its good that the Igbos are extending the olive branch to disparate Igbo groups, at least for posterity sake, its now left for them to accept or not. Whatever line they choose wont make much difference to the generality of the Igbo race. If the Isrealis could be fighting to identify with us, then I dont see why we should concern ourself so much with confused people. A time will come when others will be pleading to be with us!

What was the largest political entity in Igboland, where were it's boundaries and how was it governed?
Was it the Kingdom of Nnewi PRAY TELL
In of political development you folk were and still are infants with a short term perspective in your decision making

@ InvestinOwerri, freedom of expression and freedom of platform to use. If he choose watsapp to convey his message, I don't think anything is wrong with that. At least, Ngozi123 is not a kid that can't make decisions for herself. No need to attack the dude. However, dude, take off your number, this is a public forum please.

The poster above is a complete jack. Its a known fact that the Igbos practiced democracy in its purest form, before the white man set foot on West Africa.
