I thought your cousin may have been overreacting, until I saw the part about his wife's ex having a dimple. I would advise a DNA test to put the matter to rest.

Ok, straight to the gist..

This news just came to me while talking with one of my cousins about another of our cousin. So the cousin in question just had a baby boy from his wife and he is the cutest bundle of joy. But my cousin has managed to turn it into something of tears for the new mother.

Now the problem is in my cousins family no body, wait let me emphasis it. NO BODY has a "dimple". Even when you look into extended family like mine, still NO BODY has it. Also in the wife's family, there's not been a record of anyone who has a dimple. And this baby's got it.
Now there's the thing that's got people talking, my cousins wife had an ex who has a dimple and they were together for a very long time before she married this my cousin.
So people are saying dimples has to be inherited from either the father or mother or some other member of the family.
But is it still possible for someone to get something like that without any prior link to the parents

I don't think dimples are hereditary, more of a medical defect, but what do I know. If in doubt, a DNA test will confirm the paternity, but he should be ready for war with his wife if it turns out he is the daddy.

Dimples are definitely inherited but just because the parents or extended family don't have them doesn't mean the dimples aren't inherited from ancestral family.

You're right. They are inherited genetic traits. Please let your cousin do a DNA test to get medical proof. Maybe the gene has been in your family but in recessive form and he happens to have a dominant gene that's why he ed it on to his son. You never can tell.
