Yes, I left after studies there. Any problem with that?

Ohh. Not at all. I also left after my Masters. But planning to go again for a PhD

I've had the chance to visit Europe. Infact i'm posting this from my hotel room in Brussels... Visiting makes me appreciate living in the US. I would never consider moving away from the US permanently - except to live in Canada (which is basically an extension of the American lifestyle to be honest).

Life is not 100% great here, but if you work hard, stay on the good side of the law and make friends... you will absolutely love living in the US. Come on down! Just do it legally.
Good morning from Nigeria Mr. TWoods.

I have read your comments in the US student visa thread and I can tell that you are very intelligent and straight forward.

I applied to CU Boulder for Spring 2025 as undergraduate and I am waiting for their decision. Honestly, Yankee had been my Dreamland since childhood. Whatever I do, Yankee dey my mind. I'm from a very poor family that we can't afford three square meal a day. But my determination is driving me. I did my International port on the 9th of July this year. I'll see you in person when I land for ya Kee next year by God's grace.

Forgot to say that I applied for application fee waiver and waiting for them.

I know you didn’t ask for my opinion, but please, be realistic. Do your undergraduate In Nigeria then come here for your Msc/PhD.

Why? Is there any disadvantage to study in the US as an undergrad?

No. The correct question is can you afford the education?

My plan is to obtain loan.

Mpower loan? Chances are it won’t work. Another thing to consider is your age and study gap. It’s one thing to gain ission, it’s another to get the visa. If you’re above 25. Why are you just going for a bachelors degree? Why are you using a loan to study abroad when you can study in your home country for (almost) free? Anyhow, good luck in your endeavors.

I'm not eligible for Mpower loan given the criteria that one must be within two years of graduation. I'm just in 200L using only 100L so I m within 3 years of graduation which renders me ineligible for loan.

MY PROFILE
I'm a transfer applicant

ge: 29
Level: 200L
CGPA: 3.62
Course: English

I submitted two certificates of return as evidence of excellent extracurricular activities particularly in leadership.

I have one strong recommendation letter.

I have a good personal statement highliting my writing skills and its impact.

I applied for application fee waiver because I have no money to pay for the application and I submitted my father's Certificate of Death and my termination of employment letter as prove of financial hardship.

What's my chances of securing ission?

I'll need a cosigner if I am going for other loans and I have no one right now in the US that can do that for me. Anyways, anyway is a way. Let me just get the ission first and everything will fall in places. If I am able to secure ission, secure loan to fund me, Visa won't be a problem. I'll ace it!

There is no disadvantage apart the bulk of money you will spent for the duration of your study. Do you have the stamina and muscles of money for this journey?

My first full year working as a nurse, I made hella money. Specifically $133,000. Armed with my USA port, I have traveled to Ethiopia, Mozambique, Portugal. With each trip, my mindset changes. I currently have no regrets ditching medical school and leaving Nigeria.
Maybe one day, I will write about my trips. Maybe I will fall back in love with writing. For now, I will read through my posts and relish the simpler times. smiley

So much progress that I have found myself in the US too.
