Igboland should build ranches, ban grazing like Ekiti - Ekweremadu

Deputy Senate president Ike Ekweremadu has urged South Eastern governors to a law banning open cattle grazing just like Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose did last week. This is in order to reduce "havoc" caused by herdsmen and farmers' clashes.

Ekweremadu made this known via his Media adviser, Uche Anichukwu, at the World Igbo Congress, holding in New York, the United States of America on Saturday 3 September 2016.

His words:
"Governments of various states in Igboland and indeed, other parts of the country, should immediately consider enacting legislations that would confine cattle-rearing to modern ranches as obtainable in developed societies.

"In fact, our governments could go a step further to invest in constructing and leasing out modern ranches.

"This will produce healthier animals, give better products, provide employment, added value to the farm products, and help in promoting peaceful co-existence as well as sifting armed bandits and terrorists from real farmers doing legitimate business."

The only senate president I know is Bukola Saraki. Or are you aspiring to become "senator" at your school's SUG? Hope your GP is in order?

Build which nonsense ranches? Any animal Fulani herdsman that wants to rear cows should buy land and build his own ranch. Cattle business is a personal business, Igbos are not cattle rearers and therefore cannot build ranches.

Your advice should be directed mostly to your coward of a governor. I think it's high time my people key into this cow business it is a profitable business and can employ a lot of people.
Land will not be an issue those communities suffering from herdsmen menace are willing to donate their farmlands

If they show up to property can you suse then for destruction of property, tresing, distubing peace. Build barb wire fencing so they can't get in without cutting it. It's cheap effective and worked to kill cattle drives in usa.

They should build the ranch in northern nigeria and send the mature cows down to us in south south/south east(PH) via Truck simple.

Anything other than that is a NO NO!!!!

You mean one cannot set up a ranch in the south east for meat and milk?

Who was the last person Ekweremadu visited? It appears they did put something in his food.
