First of all reinstall the operating system, some mac are like that, if you reinstall it, the screen will go back to normal.

Again, it can also mean that the screen is getting bad but reinstall the operating system and check.

Remove the battery and connect only the charger to see if it will power on without the battery.

If doesn't, I'll advise you to see a laptop technician for diagnoses.

It has nothing to do with the fan, even if it rotate well.

If you have a fan issue it won't rotate at all.

Then it's a software issue. Go the device manager, uninstall the wifi driver and restart the pc.

Note: After uninstalling, you'll see the wifi in the taskbar cancelled out. When you see this, restart.

Unless he is using the latest Windows 7 update before it was discontinued, if not after uninstalling the WiFi adapter, he will have to install the driver again.

Even if he restart 100 times it won't install, the best thing for him to do is go to network settings, locate all connected device on the pc and remove all of them including phone device then reconnect again.

Another easy to do is right click on the WiFi and click on troubleshoot.
It will scan it and give him a clue of what's wrong.

All windows 7 came with wifi drivers preinstalled, therefore if he uninstall the the driver without having the latest win7 updates, it will automatically reinstall after the restart.

Some laptop model requires you to install the drivers.

Possible solutions:

1. Get the recovery/Operating system CD that came with the laptop and use it for repair. (This is given that you bought it new). Yet some new laptops don't come with that.

2. Get a bootable USB/CD to repair

3. Re install window if all fails.

Some are not compatible, you will need to install one by yourself.

Yes! you can do 2 or 3 yourself but it might be frustrating and end up spending too much time on guides if you have no first hand experience.

Option 2 must not be more than 1.5k

Visit stores that sell Softwares. it shouldn't be more than 200 naira for a copy of ms office, audio player and video player of your choice from the internet. Use Google for links.

You'd need a data recovery software to do that or visit a data recovery service provider. I can help ou of you are in Ogun state.

Try playing those videos on VLC. If they are not still playing and you're certain they played before the upgrade then get back here.
