Hoodlums have reportedly taken advantage of the confusion surrounding a proposed labour strike to unleash violence on Lagos residents. Suspected hoodlums, Wednesday morning, created a blockade at the Fadeyi axis of the popular Ikorodu expressway. It is not clear if the blockade was initially created by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) which says it would embark on an indefinite strike over the federal government’s decision to increase the pump price of petrol from N86.50 to N145. Those going to work, Wednesday, said hoodlums were hurling stones and other dangerous objects at vehicles. They were smashing windscreens thereby forcing buses, cars, and other vehicles from turning back from the axis. They also were not sparing BRT buses. Twitter @eBubaY said almost got hurt trying to jump off a BRT buses. Images from the scene looks like those from a war zone. The images also show that security personnel have taken control of Fadeyi to shut the violence down. http://www.newsroom.ng/fadeyi-violence-breaks-lagos-nlc-strike/ 1 Share |

ASUU and NLC are the most useless bodies I have seen. They have been striking since the time of Adam and Nigeria hasn't changed yet. ASUU went on strike during Jonathan's regime because tetiary institutions were under funded and they weren't paid good salaries. Today, the universities are still underfunded. Some schools have a serious lecture hall problem. The only thing that came out of that strike is the salary increment. Talk about selfishness. NLC going on strike each time they hear fuel subsidy removed is ridiculous. Do they expect the federal government to pay subsidy forever, do they want the federal government to keep paying subsidies till our grand chilldren inherit debts that would shock them and put them in a state of shock induced stroke ![]() I do not understand how a country as big and diverse as Nigeria is faced with too many problems. Too many. Yet the only solution that comes to their limited thinking horizon is Strike. Strike hasn't helped us, and we keep using it. Common sense evaded those in power truly.
