This short interesting story is just a remainder that we live in a small world... According to the United State Dept, in 1984 Assistant Secretary Linda Thomas-Greenfield was serving as a Consular Officer in Lagos, Nigeria, when an artist named Tunde Odunlade came to her window seeking a visa to the United States. Thirty-two years later in Washington, DC, Mr. Odunlade recognized the Assistant Secretary when they were both ists for a discussion on the Chibok girls in America. He recently visited her at the U.S. Department of State and he brought along some of his artwork. He also thanked her for approving his visa three decades ago. He knows what he'd suffer if he was still back home so he's forever grateful for the day. The ones back home shouting 'I love my country' are those who can't gather enough money to escape.

greatness22: You should apologise to the victims of what you are joking about, it's unfortunate there is no judge to caution you, which is why you see rape as a laughing matter. Anyway, God dey. I just pity the men who are falsely accused of rape while your type roams free. 11 Likes 1 Share |

I have no idea how traveling to the US is such a big achievement to be celebrated 30 years after.

There are some people in life never to be forgotten. Shoutout to the one and only "Jingo" (Dr. Dipo Fashina of Obafemi Awolowo University). While in Ife, he taught me the beauty of independent thinking and analytical thoughts. 8 Likes |

charix: Actually, it was a lot easier to get a visa in 1984. You'd have to be really wayward to get a refusal. Back then life was still correct in Nigeria. People actually used to send money from Nigeria to sustain those in the USA unlike the reverse we have today. Good to appreciate the woman but it wasn't a big deal back then. 14 Likes |
