What you see in these photos was the current state of residential areas around Alpha Beach yesterday after the beach suddenly started overflowing and flooding everywhere. According to eye witness report ''Some trailers came to drop stones on the water next the we know the water started to overflow...'' http://www.juicygossips.com.ng/2016/04/flood-alert-alpha-beach-in-lagos.html

We still can't manage a minor emergency like this in this 21st century, what if it was tsunami or hurricanes, that means everyone in that area would have been extinguished.

When you sand fill a place to make a land that was a water body before no matter how long even if u push the water into the ocean one day the water will still come back to where it was before.

bukkielee: In developed countries, seaside and water view houses are for the upper class. But here, one can only sleep with one eye open just incase the Atlantic decides to take your home for a ride. I the government was dropping stone to curb the erosion. The government (Ambode) should also stop the activities of the block moulding industries at the beach who dig sand for block making. The sand ought to serve as a natural barrier but when it is always dug, the sea will keep eroding whatever is left. 22 Likes 1 Share |

All these illegal sand filling going on in Lagos Island ![]() I hope they'll not wake up one day only to discover that many houses in the Island have been over flown by the sea. ![]() You can't cheat nature and get away with it always! 3 Likes |

Lilimax: You're right about illegal sandfilling my sister just that they're not taking place on Lagos Island but at the coastal areas which Lagos Island isn't part of. 1 Like |
