Today, the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria CYON Onitsha Archdiocese held her Annual Youth Day at the field of Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity Cathedral Onisha where is also honoured well-meaning Anambra Personalities for their humanitarian services to the youths.

Those honoured are the Archdiocesan Bishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke, His Excellency Chief Dr. Willie Obiano AKPOKUEGLOBAL, Chief Sir Victor Umeh OFR OHAMADIKE NDIGBO, Rev. Fr. Prof. Bonaventure Director Umunya Catholic Adoration Ministry amongst others.

The CYON Spiritual Director for Onitsha Archdiocese Rev. Fr. Ezenwaka Vincent assured Chief Umeh and the Governor of the solidarity of CYON of the Archdiocese to APGA the ruling party in the State.

UPDATED - Gov. Obiano inaugurates the Onitsha Shopping Mall

The Project which was started by the immediate Past istration, was completed by the Obiano istration at a total cost of about six billion naira.
Government House Correspondent Kenechukwu Ofomah reports that the Mall covering fifteen thousand Square metres, which was completed under a restructured business arrangement put together by the ANSIPPA, has a total of fifty-nine shops designed to sell varieties of products, with Shoprite .
Inaugurating the mall, Governor Obiano said the realization of the project marks a milestone in his istration's efforts towards making the State a hub for commercial activities not only in the South East geopolitical zone but also in the Country.



He said as part of his government's towards the business, it will immediately commence a second road through the back of the Mall to the 3-3 area to ease traffic when the Mall becomes fully operational.
The Governor urged Ndi Anambra to always patronize the Mall for world-class business experience.
The Secretary to the state Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu explained that since inception, the present istration had restructured the investment details in response to the present day economic realities.
Earlier, the Development Director of African Capital Alliance, the Project Developer, Mazi Osita Okonkwo explained that the Mall was as a result of a gainful public private sector partnership.
In their separate remarks, a former Deputy Governor in the State, Chief Emeka Sibeudu and a former Commissioner of Police in Delta State and Special Adviser to
the Governor on Vigilante Matters, Mr Ikechukwu Aduba observed that the Mall holds great business and employment prospects for Ndi Anambra.
In a vote of thanks, the Member representing Onitsha North One Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mr Chugbo Enwezor Said the Governor has through his that saw to the actualization of the project demonstrated his commitment to his continuity stance and assured that the Onitsha Community will give the Mall every necessary .

Obiano Commissions Anambra’s First Shopping Mall in Onitsha

History was made earlier today when the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, formally commissioned the state’s first modern shopping mall in Onitsha today.
The mall which sits on a 40,000 square meters of land located in highbrow GRA has 12,000 retail spaces to let, 70 in-line stores and 500 parking slots for automobiles.
The commissioning of the mall marks the first bold step by the government of Anambra State to reposition Onitsha as West Africa’s leading destination for modern commerce and an emerging centre for industrial activities, next to Lagos.
The mall is an important component of the Continuity Projects that Governor Obiano inherited from his predecessor and a clear fulfilment of his pledge to continue, complete and commission all projects handed over to him by the immediate past istration.
Inaugurating the mall, Governor Obiano described the opening of the mall as a milestone in his istration's efforts to make the State the centrepiece for commercial activities.
Governor Obiano recalled that the mission statement of his istration was to make Anambra State the 1st Choice Investment Destination and a hub for industrialization and commercial activities while my Mission is to make Anambra State a socially stable, business-friendly environment that would attract both indigenes and foreigners to seek wealth-creating opportunities. He maintained that slowly but steadily, both statements were becoming fulfilled.
The Governor assured that his istration would immediately commence the construction of an access road to that would link up the mall from 3-3 Junction to ease up traffic and urged the residents of the Onitsha and the surrounding areas to the mall with their patronage.
Offering fresh insights into the construction of the mall, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu explained that from inception, the Obiano istration had come armed with a well-crafted plan that would turn the state into an investment haven which ensured a smooth transition that led to the speedy completion of the mall.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of African Capital Alliance, partners on the project, Mazi Osita Okonkwo explained that the mall was a product of a successful public private partnership and assured that his organisation had more attractive offerings for Anambra State.
In their separate remarks, a former Deputy Governor in the State, Chief Emeka Sibeudu and a former Commissioner of Police in Delta State and Special Adviser to the Governor on Vigilante Matters, Mr Ikechukwu Aduba observed that the Mall holds a great business and employment prospects for Ndi Anambra.
The event ended with a formal inauguration of the retail outlet of Shoprite, the flagship brand of the mall.
