If they are serious with the interest Aina should dem asap. Aina is tailor-made for free flowing attacking football and will see enough playing time due to Walker’s decline in form

Question for the house do you think Ekong, Lookman, and Osimhen have done enough to be included in the greatest Nigerian top 10 players ever or they still need to win a title?

Personally apart from the usual suspects like Kanu, JJ, Yekini etc. can't think of anyone else in the current top 10 better than these individuals. Anyway just my opinion love to hear other informed thoughts on the matter.

Without an objective metric to determine what makes for the "top 10 players ever" all you'll get it vibes and insha'Allah.

Ademola lookman? A big YES, Propelled the super eagles to the finals of the afcon with breath taking performances and goals, dragged less-fancied Atalanta to the UEL finals where he scored 3 classy goals in the finals against a dreaded Xabi Alonso led Bayer Leverkusen that won the Bergamo based club its first ever trophy. Currently the reigning APOTY and also a Balon D’Or nominee this season

Have been among the best 3 players in serie A for the past 2 seasons and have averaged 15 G/A contribution since he moved to Italy

Victor Osimhen? A big YES. single handedly won Napoli the serie A after over 3 decades (Napoli’s first was also won single handedly by a footballing demi god named AMANDO DIEGO MARADONA). currently the highest ever scoring African in serie A history, an Apoty winner( an award that eluded Nigerian players for over 2 and half decades before Osimhen won it last season). Currently the 2nd highest goal scorer in the history of the national team only behind legendary Yekini. Serie A top scorer and best player award winner. Won the u17 World Cup with eaglets where he emerged as the goal king of that year’s edition

As for Ekong? I am a big fan and to be honest he has grown career wise beyond my expectations judging by his slow start with the national team under late Stephen Keshi and unstable club career especially in top 5 European leagues. He grew from uncertainty to become a rock which the team is built on, a leader whose presence and command gives assurance, morale and confidence to his team mates.

With all these said I still dont rank him among the very best CBs that have played for the national team. Maybe winning the next afcon will be enough for him to be counted but for now he isn’t there yet. I doubt he is up there to be mentioned among greats like Keshi,West,Yobo,Okechukwu etc

I agree matters of this kind can be subjective but basic criteria should be impact at club/national team level, trophies won, individual honours, plus performances at big tournaments.

Concur with everything you've mentioned.

Agree about Ekong but added him in the mix because I can't when last a SE defender was named MVP at any tournament.

that’s a strong point you have (been named Afcon’s MVP) but is that enough for him to be counted amongst the greats we have ever produced in his position? Bro I strongly doubt

Agree with that of Ekong

As for Osimhen most stats you put up there are his club achievements if you are talking about top 10 greatest super eagles players I think you should consider what you wrote there for example Yekini didn’t have much club success and achievements like osimhen but in Afcon alone he has 13 goals, won afcon for Nigeria , Qualified Nigeria for first ever World Cup appearance and also scored the first goal. Like the last Afcon we played Osimehn was silent goal wise thanks to Lookman and our rock solid defense that propelled us to the final also we are about to miss back to back world cup with this set of players we have no much tangible achievement for super eagles

Well spoken.

When it comes to club level, apart from Kanu,Mikel,Finidi and Taribo maybe,
the achievements of these two(Osimhen and Lookman) dwarves the rest of the super eagles players including the legendary fan favorite Jay-Jay.

However, without specific metrics given to determine the top 10,it will be difficult to rank them properly.

Because the OGs who watched legends like Odegbami,Muda Lawal and Christien Chukwu who never had opportunity to play in Europe but won us AFCON trophy would want to make a case for them ahead of those whose their biggest achievements is in Europe.
And the average Nigerian fans believes that your achievement as player in green and white colors carries more weight.

For me ,the duo of Osimhen and Lookman will certainly make my Nigerian top 15 greatest especially by the time they retire.
But there is no room for Ekon yet.

In no particular order,
Top 15 Nigeria's greatest footballers are:

1.Kanu
2.Okocha
3.Rashidi
4.Mikel
5.Finidi
6.Amuneke
7.Oliseh
8.Enyeama
9.Osimhen
10.Lookman
11.Taribo
12.Ikpeba
13.Keshi
14.Odegbami
15.Muda Lawal

Completing the top 20 are:

16.Celestine Babayaro
17.Christien Chukwu
18.Daniel Amokachi
19.Samson Siasia
20.Uche Okechukwu

Nottingham Forest will listen to offers for Taiwo Awoniyi this month, if they can secure a replacement of similar ability.

Lookman, osihmen and friends need to win an afcon title to get ahead of even Mikel, Victor Moses and enyeama.

Both Mikel and Moses even have European club titles while enyeama has an African champs league title to add to their Afcon title
