Essentially, if he had been invited by CCB, he would have been able to clarify and the issue will not go to the Tribunal. Very good. Let him just provide the clarification that would have vindicated him direct to the Tribunal now. He will be discharged and acquitted.

The governor did not go there to open Shoprite. He went to commission OWERRI MALL owned by Chikwe. Shoprite is just one of the major tenants in the mall. There are other tenants.

The central bank of Nigeria mobilizes fund for and on behalf of the government, please read their functions again..... Why do you think Sanusi's policy to print 5000 naira note was not implemented? Its because the CBN is dependent on the federal government.

Are you giving a lecture on the functions of CBN or commenting on the specific issue of bank charges which the thread is about?

Bankers Tariffs are incomes to the banks not to CBN or Government. They were usually reviewed yearly in the past but of recent, the review has changed to every 3 years. It is co-ordinated and regulated by CBN so that there will be uniformity in bank charges nationwide.

The document on latest 2016 tariff (still at exposure stage) which will replace the 2013 version from where the OP extracted what caught his fancy is actually 68 pages containing all bank charges even for smiling at a beautiful cashier smiley.

You can it from the CBN website and challenge your bank if it wrongly charges you.

Is CBN not a government patastertal?

The charges were agreed by the Bankers Committee comprising MDs of all commercial banks. The money goes to the banks as income not the government.

Ordinarily, banks being profit making organization would have loved to just go ahead and charge but they are regulated by the CBN which must approve any tariffs by banks.

The design is ill advised. Why not build something straight that can stand the test of time. This structure is still subject to damages whenever there is any fierce earth movement.

That education building (the one painted in yellow colour) was built in the 60s, only Humanities buildings are older than it. The Faculty of istration building, the first of the triplets was opened in 1972 while the Law and Social Sciences buildings ed 10 years later. They have stood and will stand test of time.

You sound ignorant. I can easily assume you don't know how contracts are awarded and the heavy interplay of politics in nigerian business.

If richard branson ran away from nigeria because of the politics that frustrated his Airline. Is dangote a harder worker than branson?

Strive Masiwa, owner of ECONET, ran away from naija for similar reasons. the heavy interplay of politics in business.

Dangote is not smarter, he is simply a bully. he is taking advantage of the lawlessness of a country. He is the sole sponsor of PDP. He has his hands in many pies. Emefiele has offered to give him $19 billion from the country's reserves while other business men can afford shingbai.

who do think the capital oil man and BUA alhaji were referring too when they said they will mention names??

Microsoft was taken to court and its monopoly destroyed before silicon valley was born. do you even know about this.

I regret replying you and i will not again.

You again? Where do you get these your beer-parlour gossip?

Between Silicon Valley and Microsoft, which one precede the other? Do you know what Silicon Valley mean?

Production was already on in SV right from late 60s and early 70s and IBM made it more popular even before Microsoft was conceptualised. Which year did anti-trust case against Microsoft start? What is the relationship of the case of Microsoft in EU with Silicon Valley after all it is not only in US that Microsoft was dragged to court.

Nice one.

See why Nigeria's future is weak? Unregulated power in the hands of one man. Dangote only thives in a monopoly. Nigerians pay more than double for cement compared global prices because of one man.

When IBETO brother were given license to produce cement under the Yar adua , they announced they will sell a bag of cement for N800 the NEXT WEEK, that license was revoked through the lobbying of Turai (that witch).

Once dangote is done with his tomato paste farm, government will a unfavourable bill against tomato paste production. Or they will use NAFDAC do make new entrants suffer. This is nigeria

Dangote's Nigeria

Don't stand history on its head.

Obj govt gave Ibeto licence to import cement on the same and conditions that Dangote, Larfarge, FMN, etc were given. The require that you set up a factory in Nigeria and import only the same quantities as you locally produced pending the time that local production would meet the nation's demand.

It was found out later that Ibeto was not producing locally but was benefiting under the cement policy. Obj revoked his 'import' licence to re-bag in Nigeria not production licence to produce. Ibeto went to court and court ordered that his import licence should be restored by which time Obj had left government.

While the case was still in court, Ibeto was boasting that if he had been allowed to import, he could crash the price to N800 within 40 days as opposed to about N1,600 that locally produced cement of Dangote and others were selling for that time. Unfortunately for him, he won in court and the Government did not appeal that ruling. On July 25, 2007, Yardua ordered the re-opening of his re-bagging factory in Port-Harcourt yet he could not even sell below the price of local one talkless of crashing it.

Thanks for the brief lesson in history. But you need not stop there. Who does AMCON represent? The FG of course!! That makes those shares our national asset. So my first comment is very much valid. If the shares are to be disposed a competitive bid should be done.

No. AMCON is a Bad Bank floated by CBN and Banks in Nigeria. AMCON operations and acquisition of bad loans are primarily financed by Bonds backed by sovereign guarantee. Its mission is to save good banks from going bad, it is not a matter of representation.

FG had already sold its shares in PAN to an individual who financed the acquisition with a loan that turned bad. It is no longer the responsibility of the govt to resell or determine how the new owner dispose of PAN. If the original lending bank had call in the collateral and dispose off PAN to any willing buyer to recover its loan, AMCON wouldn't have been involved.

If you have 10 cars to choose from, how will you pick your choice?

Making personal choice is different from government choosing. If government should promote and adopt one or two of those as official, what do you think will happen to the rest?

Bros you are not getting the point in my post. You are looking at 3% of what I said and neglecting 97%.now listen, there is no industrialized nation in the work that uses a foreign made car as her official vehicles most especially if they have car manufacturers in their country. In the early 80s,India banned all foreign cars and developed theirs ,only diplomats and the very rich were allowed to own such imported cars. Go to the usa ,you wont see any government office using a foreign car as their official vehicles,go to china,uk, and all these countries. Now if we have more than 3 car manufacturers in Nigeria ,it makes the whole thing better. There should be a law that mandates all government offices and parastatals in Nigeria to only buy Nigeria made cars and vehicles. For big multi billion naira sectors like this government patronage is the first point of call for manufactuers

Now that almost all major vehicles makers are reported to be interested in setting up assembly plants in Nigeria as a result of GEJ's promoted policy, which one are we going to adopt?

Innoson motors is doing a wonderful marketing job. You just don't jump into ment or large marketing without doing your proper homework. Govt patronage should be first and this is something government isn't doing much about ,if all state governments in Nigeria ,ministries both state and federal, universities both state and federal, adopt annamco and innoson as their official vehicles and cars this will go a long way in boosting these companies revenues, increase the investment capital which will give them more money for expansion, give them the Nigerian image which will make Nigerians adopt them. But what we have today is the government budgeting almost 4 billion naira to import bmw cars from and we keep playing lip service to made in Nigeria products. Just yesterday the minister for agric said they have imported grasses from brazil into Nigeria . Now who is fooling who

At bolded. What should make government adopt ANNAMCO vehicles as official vehicles at the expense of PAN vehicles? They are both on the same pedestal. ANNAMCO in Enugu is a partnership with Mercedes of while PAN in Kaduna is with Peugeot of . There are many other plants on the same level - Steyr in Bauchi, Fiat in Kano, Leyland in Ibadan and VW in Lagos. Innoson SUVs for all the noises is just a rebadged GAC Motors of China. Google that.

If AMCON sells PAN shares to these states and investors, then everything is wrong with the system. Whatever happened to call for bids?? The PAN's shares to be sold are they FGN's shares?? People on NL will be busy looking at the tribalistic angle of this while a wrecking gang will sell off our national assets with just one proposal.

You and other posters here don't get some facts right.

PAN was a t venture between AP of and Federal govt/some state governments established in the 70s

Nigeria governments (federal and states) were majority shareholder but the AP was the technical partner and operator of the venture.

Nigeria govt already sold its shares in PAN during privatization exercise to ASD Motors owned by Alhaji Sani Dauda. It was at the same time that govt sold off VW in Lagos and Fiat in Kano.

ASD financed the acquisition of the government shares in PAN by borrowing from Nigerian banks.

The loans turned bad and AMCON acquired the loans from banks and thus become indirect owner of PAN.

Just like any other loans, AMCON must exit the liability by either recovering from the original debtor or sell off the debt to new interested person(s). That is what brought up the issue of Dangote and new investors

The Force PPRO as well as the ASP in charge of the ICT department were on AIT in January and said it takes 5 minutes. So why is it taking days and weeks? Soon it will be months and then the opportunity to start inducement to get it earlier the way the NIS does for ports will creep into the system.

5 minutes to do capturing or to get the permit? Biometric capturing itself will be 5 minutes if you are the only one but if you are on the queue, you add the waiting time.

Regarding readiness and collection of the permit itself, note that your data will be analyzed before approval and the permit itself is signed by a commisioner. How then can it be ready within 5 minutes?
