I would just like to know which IDE most .net developers use to develop web applications, I have both macromedia dreamweaver and visual studio, Any help pls?

Am not sure dreamweaver is compatible with ASP projects , You should use Visual Studio 2005. peace! |

Dreamweaver is a toy. Stick with Visual Studio. Visual Studio 2008 is better than Visual Studio 2005 Visual Studio 2005 is better than Visual Studio 2003 All are better than Dreamweaver. |

fatezy: Yes Dreamweaver s ASP. But, I hope you aren't confusing ASP and ASP.NET (both are way different). ASP is more like PHP (scripting frameworks) while ASP.NET is more like java only much simpler and more powerful for ecommerce and science. |

Sorry dis might sound stupid but can u explain the diff between asp and asp.net, always tot .net was an upgrade

fatezy: Nothing sounds stupid. ASP was microsofts first attempt at a web framework. It is now very outdated. The is little in common between ASP and ASP.NET apart from a couple of object names. They are totally different technologies, ASP basically is a scipting engine; you do not compile code into exe's or dll's, this makes it quite slow. With ASP, you also had to write every last bit oh HTML and VBScript (JavaScript). The improvements in ASP.NET are: 1. Compiled code (into exe's and dll's) offering much better performance 2. Programmable controls (you don't have to write every last bit oh HTML and code) 3. Markup is XML-based 4. ASP.NET comes with several ready built frequently used controls e.g. authentication, file , banner rotation e.t.c. 5. Several built in security checks Look up (but don't get distracted by) the following ASP.NET attributes. 1.
