It is a known fact that feeding s for about 70 percent of the cost of producing poultry birds especially broilers. Feed brands such as Topfeeds, Vital, Hybrid etc. cost about 2600 naira per 25 kg bag. In order to reduce the cost of feeding in poultry, the alternatives are either buying concentrates and mixing with maize and wheat offal or feed formulation. Experts in the house please share your knowledge about how to reduce the cost of feeding through feed formulation. Lets make ourselves better poultry farmers. Thank you.

I hope so too. I heard someone say one can save like #300 per 25kg bag if one formulate his feeds.

My cousin formulated a 70kg feed using this formula: Maize (new) 39kg Corn Bran 4kg Wheat offal 4kg Soya Meal (falke) 8kg GNC 6kg Bone Meal 2kg Oyster shell 3kg Salt 0.07kg Premix 0.07kg Mycofix 0.05kg Biotronics 0.07kg Pkc 4kg The compounded feed issaid to contain 16.79 CF 4.13, Calcium 2.61 MET ENER 2,811etc for #4,625 naira. Through frying the heat destroy the anti nutritional element at the outer coat Seeds obtained from each process is referred to as full fat soya (FFS) because in each method oil is not removed from the soya seed. Sorry i have been away for a while, i have been trying to find answers to many questions pertaining to feed formulation, especially for commercial broiler farmers like myself. For small scale poultry farmers, feed formulation might not be too cost effective, but for farmers with 1000 birds upwards it is. I have been a buyer of branded feeds since i started broiler production, however, i wasnt contented with the feeding cost, hence the need to formulate my own feeds. I called a feed mill in my area in osogbo, the cost of 1 ton of formulated feed is #84k, that will save me some #20k because i buy 1 ton of topfeeds for #104k. So house how much do you formulate 1 ton of feeds (broiler starter and finisher)?
