GOVERNOR Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has asked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to forget next Saturday’s gubernatorial re-run election in Ekiti State, saying Action Congress (AC) would coast to victory.
Fashola, who spoke in an interview at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, shortly on arrival from Dr. Kayode Fayemi father’s burial in Ekiti, said the atmosphere in Ekiti was that of resentment of the PDP.

According to him, AC will, this time, try as much as possible to protect the votes the people of Ekiti State will give to the party. He said: “It’s obvious, we are the party on ground in Ekiti. We won overwhelmingly and that is why the Court of Appeal said our votes were manipulated, that we should go and do it again. This time, we are going to win hands down and protect the votes.”

Meanwhile, president and founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Dr. Frederick Faseun, has warned the two parties in Ekiti State to eschew violence, maintain the peace and ensure the sanctity of the repeat gubernatorial election.

The OPC leader expressed misgivings at the allegations flying between chieftains of the PDP and the AC that each party had concluded plans for wholesale rigging of the election with the active connivance of security agents.

According to Faseun, who gave this counsel in a press statement, the situation had reached a boiling point threatening the peace of the state
