I don't know if someone has ever been in this dilemma before.

A friend of mine just received an interview invite for a Web/Social Media . He studied Business .

Seeing as this post is somewhat more related to computer and web design stuff, the guy is confused. He doesn't know much about web and social media stuff and the job description is kinda intimidating to him.

He's thinking of ignoring the invite but then, its from a big company.

What do you think he can do? Should he forget it or give it a try?

He said he must have applied online. Ie jobberman, jobzilla etal.

Let him google the job offer.. He will sure get ideas..na jet age we dey sef. So they might expect him to know a bit about social media.

I feel he should give it a try but if he really doesnt know anything social media related, then he should stay home.

Smiles u know I get that feeling too, getting a mail for an interview and tryna check if I really applied but sometimes I end up not finding it in my sent mail box, but still go for some only if I deem it GENUINE tho. God bless us all!

It's possible recruiters saw his LinkedIn profile and invited him to an interview, or the e-mail was accidentally sent to him.

Just like when NNPC invited us for test early this year or late last year, I actually forgot what I applied for in 2012 when we applied

Nothing bad in trying...I'm sure the company must have view his CV before inviting him for an interview.

Back in the day, i.e, when I still had few or no work experience, I usually applied for jobs I had no prior experience in. I would keenly read the job description and then google the required skills for the job for better understanding.

My first paid job after NYSC, some 7/8 years back, got me working with a group of Project Managers who were consulting on Technical matters.(specifically, fiberoptics gurus) During meetings, when they discussed technical jargons which I didn't know jack about, I would go straight to google.

I also worked as a web/social media , when I hadn't done it before.

All your friend needs is trusting that he CAN do the job. Let him first understand the job functions, the rest will be easy.

Whatever!....If you applied for any portion via jobberman, just forget the interview. it's always a scam!

can you imagine? ...each time I applied for a position similar to my area of study through jobberman, I always get interview invite from stupid MEDPRO....gosh! jobberman is old story, made of current job listing, but ur CV will not get to where you intended!
