Whatever the job, you want the interviewer to you for your personality and performance: not as "the one that dressed as a traditional juju priest". Once you have the job, you can wear whatever the employer approves of. But you need to get the job first, so play safe. If you look really smart it will give a big boost to your confidence. 13 Likes |

Native wear bawo? Na cultural dance company? ![]() Well, it's the combination that matters tho. A corporate native jacket and formal pants/skirts will go down well for a lady. It's all about being smart. You can't wear Iro and buba to an interview and expect a miracle. Abi Agbada ![]() 10 Likes 2 Shares |

It depend on the nature of the job.. If the job is newscasting in native language, my friend, wear native dress but if otherwise, be corporate.. Infact, very corporate

If it's Hijab, I think it's acceptable... But Hijab is a matter of religion not tradition.. Wearing traditional attire implies you have no regard for the business environment in which you find yourself and therefore will have no regard for the job when employed..

Yes you can wear native if it is for the position of a town crier or assistant native doctor. But if na white collar or blue collar job, you dress the needful. 8 Likes |

for me, nothing wrong. but since we are brainwashed by the colonial mentality, it becomes pertinent to put on suit, even in the hot sun.

In 2010 or 2011, I attended a scholarship interview at an oil company office in Lagos. We were about 10 that day. All dressed in suit and official wear, except one guy. He was from the north, and dressed in native wear. He told us that was the first interview he was doing in his life. He had done his project defence in native wear at his university, deep in the north. Anyway, he was sent away for not dressing the right way. The rest of us had our interviews and left. But... Later, I learned that guy was called back the very next day. He did his interview. He got the scholarship. I don't know if he wore native or if he dressed official this second time. I do suspect he got the scholarship due to nepotism. Someone "up there" wanted him to get it, and made the invite him back. I didn't get the scholarship. *shrugs* 9 Likes |

Theres nothing bad in it if the native is just Iro & Buba. Its only bad if the interview is in UK or America. Again, that's why I wont wear suit on my wedding day & my bride wont wear gown. We ll wear native attires to church. |
