OOU Science Students Involved In An Accident While Returning From Excursion

Some Students of National association of Science students, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye have been involved in an accident while returning from an excursion trip to Idanre Hills and Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State.

OOU Press club was reliably told that the incident which occurred today May 27, 2017 happened at Ife Junction along the popular Ondo-Akure road at about 6:30am.

As at time of filing this report, no death has been recorded. However, quite number of students that were in the 26 enger bus are said to be in a critical condition and are currently receiving treatment at the State Specialist Hospital, Ondo State. A victim of the incident, who preferred being anonymous told OOU Press Club that about 21 students have been transferred to the OOU Health Centre at Mini campus, Ago - Iwoye out of about 61 students who went for the excursion.

It was reported to the OOU Press Club*by the anonymous source that,they were leaving with two buses and It was in the morning,everybody was still moody and sleeping. All of a sudden we can't just explain how the accident happened. It was just within a twinkle of an eye but we thank God".

He added that the timely intervention of the Student Union Government of FUTA and Adeyemi University of Education saved most of the injured students from escalating into a very critical situation as hospitals in the vicinity were reluctant to it the accident victims.



Ondo Accident Disaster: Tragedy Strikes As OOU NASS President Is Confirmed Dead

OOU Press Club has confirmed the death of the Adefuwa Christopher, the President of National Association of Science Students (NASS), OOU Ago- Iwoye Chapter. This follows after about 61 students from the faculty of science were involved in an accident while returning from an excursion trip in Ondo state.

It was learnt that only 21 Students were injured in the incident that happened on Saturday morning when a 27 seat enger bus carrying the university students collided with an onrushing trailer at Ife Junction along Ondo-Akure road.

An Eye witness who spoke to OOU Press Club said that Christopher underwent a medical surgery yesterday after xray results showed he had internal injuries. He furthered that the surgery was successful and He was able to speak to people around him. However, trouble started when He had complications around midnight which prompted his transfer from the State Specialist Hospital, Ondo State to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital where He gave up the ghost around 8am this morning.

Our witness who expressed shock and sadness over the incident said Christopher was the least He expected to have died. In his words, "His injuries were not physical so we didn't belive anything could happen to him. In fact, He still spoke this morning and everyone thought He is fine already. The situation is just saddening"

Meanwhile, OOU Press Club reliably gathered that no other death has been recorded. An ambulance and team of concerned stake holders are reported to have left the OOU Mini Campus to Ondo state this morning to convey the deceased and other students back to Ago - Iwoye.

NASS ACCIDENT: ITTED INJURED STUDENTS DISCHARGED FROM THE MINI CAMPUS HEALTH CENTRE

The injured victims of the the OOU National Association of Science Students(NASS) who were involved in the After-Excursion accident in Ondo state, and said to be earlier itted at the Mini-Campus health center have all been discharged.

According to one of the health centre Nurses who spoke with the OOU press club correspondent said,some of the victims were discharged yesterday and the rest were allowed today, other victims who were also involved is said to still be receiving treatment in Ondo state teaching hospital and it has been the death of the president that has been recorded so far.

Earlier today, It has been rumoured that the NASS excursion trip to Ondo state was not approved by the Dean of the Faculty of Science.

Excursion Disaster: Tears Flow As OOU NASS President Is Finally Buried

The late President of National Association of science Students (NASS) OOU Ago - Iwoye Chapter, Comrade Adefuwa Christopher has been laid to rest on Sunday, May 28 2017 at his home town in Ijebu Isiwo.

OOU Press Club learnt that the corpse of the deceased final year science student was moved from Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) to his home town after a high powered delegation led by OOU SUG President, Comrade Tayo Mabunmi arrived in Ondo state on Sunday morning.

It was gathered that a massive demonstration by the remaining uninjured students in the accident craved the attention of the D.P.O attached to Ondo State divisional Police headquarters, and SUG leaders of FUTA and Adeyemi University of Education who provided buses and other humanitarian assistance in conveying the deceased and other students back to Ago-Iwoye.

An eye witness who spoke to OOU Press Club disclosed that Chris was buried around 7pm after a Mass service was held for him at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Ijebu Isiwo. OOU SUG Presidential aspirant, Comrade Olowu Omotola, Socrates, Pundit, Olujas, Suprise and many other student leaders were reported to have ed the OOU SUG delegation who went to Ondo and later attended the burial of the 25 year Old.

Chris, until his death, was a final year science student of Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye and a faculty President who had less than one month to sign out from the University. His untimely death came after himself and 60 other students were involved in an auto accident while returning from an excursion trip to Idanre Hills and Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State.

Earlier, OOU Press Club reported that about 21 students who were transferred to OOU Health Centre at Mini campus has been discharged. As at the time of filing this report, every other victim of the accident are in good condition apart from four students who are currently in the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu for further examination.
