Ibadan – Authorities of the University of Ibadan , (UI) on Monday asked its students to vacate the premises immediately, pending the time the problem of shortage of water and electricity would be addressed.

The directive was issued to students following ‎an advice given by the Committee of Provosts and Deans to the university’s management.

The Director of Communication of the institution, Mr Muhammed Oladejo ,who confirmed the development, said the management only asked the students to proceed on a two-week mid-semester break.

The students of Independence Hall of the institution had in the early hours of Monday stage a protest.

The students complained that they were facing hard time as a result of shortage of water and electricity.

An official of the university, who spoke , but pleaded anonymity, said, “‎The mid-semester break was declared as a result of power outage.

“The outage is also affecting other services on campus, especially water and electricity supply.

“The committee advised the management on the step taken to avert problems as witnessed recently.

“The mid-semester break will take two weeks. The students living at Independence Hall lodged a complaint and the school authorities decided to take immediate action”..‎ (NAN)

The fuel scarcity crisis signifies how important oil is to our economy.
If there is no oil product in circulation everyone and every sector is affected

That's a wise university.

You may all think its a ploy to waste two weeks of academics. Actually, the reverse is the case.

Its a time for the university to make valuable judgment of things and to also furge forward.., without necessarily wasting the students time.

Things are not always what they seem to be on the surface.

Let's get used to it.

it was not due to fuel shortage ooo the student have been expriencing shortage of power supply which makes it difficult for them to pump water to use.

That's one good thing about my Unibadan. I those days....no lectures once there's no water and electricity in school. Exams have been postponed several times because of this.
The management don't believe in inconveniencing students as a result of power outage... So best thing is to shut down the school while things normalize.
Why will students be attending classes without water and adequate supply of electricity.

Why would the authority of this institution expect the fuel crisis to last another two weeks?

Are they not aware that "Change" is coming soon?
