Rubbish! Why N3m option? Person that laundered N25b, what is N3m for him to pay. The judge would have allowed him to serve the jail term or is the prison only meant for common people? What of his elder brother Lucky, when is he going to pay his own fine option or is he not guilty of embezzling Edo state money? I weep for my country!

The Igbinedion guy will spend 2 years, not 6 years in prison because the are concurrent. However, he is more likely to pay the N3million fine than go to jail. embarassed

6yrs for 25billion money laundering... in as much as i like the verdict i still feel its nit fair enough... 6yrs is just too small it could have been 50yrs to start with

What! 6yrs for laundering N25 billion.

Hello Mr Mod pls kindly change the name from "Igbnedion" to "Michael Igbinedion" on the thread - name at the front page. It is misleading to say the least.

Thanks.

Is there a way we can legally transfer these people and this court to a district in Indonesia?

And let's follow the proceedings from there?

They weren't sentenced to Prison, they were given an "OPTION" of a N3Million fine.

Your country is a bloody joke!
tlops(m): 7:39pm On Apr 30, 2015
someone stole N25 billion and was convicted of the act, yet he got a fine of N3million. I believe that fine should be paid after returning the N25 billion stolen. Yet a lady got 8 years for stealing N8 million without the option of fine!
Re: Igbinedion Gets 6-year Jail Term Over Money Laundering by Nobody: 7:44pm On Apr 30, 2015
That is country of barbarians and poor judicial system. Stealing huge money in Nigeria is no a crime but stealing bread is. Bleh!

If a big mans child steals 25 billion he has option of fine of 250k ,meaning corruption some hw sweet ,if na poor man na life imprisonment for pocket picking 20k ,judiciary needs to be really checked and sentences modified to suit the crime and not the class
Stylaay(m): 7:56pm On Apr 30, 2015
The judiciary is the problem of this country. U steal billions and u are fined 3 million? Judges should face firing squad for such judgment. They make corruption thrive in this country. Bunch of idiots

He stole or laundered 25bn naira and was sentenced 4 6yrs concurrently (dat is 2yrs) or a fine of 3m naira. Naija judges self. This is a light sentence. No wonder politifcians are not scared of looting. We need serious judicial reform.

This is exactly what GEJ meant when he said most of the acts we call corruption are actually acts of stealing and should b adjudicated as such. If he was charged of stealing only N1million, he would have gotten nothing less than 6 years in jail without an option of fine. But many Nigerians miscontrue his words to mean the opposite of what he was saying.

Now this is exactly why lots of people believe that the anti corruption stance of GMB is more of bark and less of bite. Fighting corruption is not about a man, its about institutions, systems and processes.

Afterall OBJ made a lot of noise about corruption in his tenure. How many people could he actually convict? If our laws as regarding corruption are not reviewed, there is nothing Buhari can do about corruption in Nigeria. It will all be wind without rain.

Read the write up properly. He is a free man. He was given option of N3m fine payment..The guy will pay once and walk home free.

This country judiciary system is useless!!!!

Only the guy who got 2years got the fine option. His offence is probably negligible
