Nobody can hack into INEC database – Jega
The Independent National Electoral Commission has stated
that its database cannot be hacked into by anybody.
The commission however stated that if that happened, there
must be an insider collaboration.
The chairman of INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, said this on
Wednesday during a programme, ‘Straight Talk with Kadara’,
monitored on Channels Television in Abuja.
He added that he was prepared to return to the classroom
as a university teacher in June after the general elections.
Jega was reacting to the allegation by the Department of
State Service that the opposition party, the All Progressives
Congress, had planned to hack into the database of the
commission.
“As far as I am concerned, our database cannot be hacked; if
that happens, then someone on the inside must have
compromised because we have in place checks and
balances that if such happens, we will know who did it”, he
said.
Jega also challenged APC leaders to substantiate their
allegation that some people were trying to clone card
readers for the election, a development he said, was
impossible.
The INEC chairman said, “They are obligated to investigate
any information they receive on perpetration of a crime or
attempts to perpetrate a crime. So if they have information
that some people are trying to clone cards, they are
obligated to investigate it.
“Investigating whether a crime has occurred or has not
occurred is a different matter between whether the result of
that crime will affect the integrity of the process.
“I am confident that it is virtually impossible for anybody to
clone our cards; they can attempt but there is no way that,
using the card reader, somebody will come and clone cards
and vote on election day in February.”

INEC runs an offline system. It is like storing information on you personal computer. You don't need internet service to access personal information you stored on your personal computer.

Mind you is as various level of access.in fact its core database solution is not online its algorithms are superbly coded.a lot of you know nothing about technology apart from the lucky smart phones ,pad or PC you have.expand ur mind.the sss goofed.it can not be hacked.

In case you are not aware, this is in response to the ridiculous claim that the apc in lagos wanted to hack the inec database. The inec database is not online, and the apc office as well was not online, their computers had USB ports disabled to prevent data theft. So perhaps the DSS will explain how the hacking was to happen, when both offices keep their dbs inaccessible via the Internet.

It is possible to still do wat is called local file transfer, but not necessarily hacking, frm experience, you can do wat is called file sharing, even when the computer is offline, but with the help of an insider, like the prof. Rightly put it, I will give u more details later.

Pple and conspiracy theories. Inec office in abuja. The suppossed hacking site was in Lagos. Only internet connection or witchcraft can connect the two. Working with insiders?
