Ok. It's biblically and religiously wrong for women to keep their head open when in the presence of God. I and my family dont do that.

In the book of first Corinthians Paul gave certain instructions and he gave a reason for each of these instructions. Some he said it is directly from the Lord, another he said it's from the wisdom that God gave him, yet another he said it's just an advice. But when it came to the issue of women covering their hair he said "Now if anyone is disposed to be argumentative and contentious about this, we hold to and recognize no other custom [in worship] than this, nor do the churches of God generally." (1Cor 11:16).
Paul didn't say didn't say this is directly from the Lord and he didn't say if women didn't cover their hair they will go to Hell.

But Paul said this is a custom. Custom tells you what you need to do to be a part of a group or a society. And to be a part of the Church as at that time you must cover your hair as a woman.
But the gospel tells you what you need to do to make heaven and have a foretaste of heaven on earth.

Women covering hair is nothing but a custom for believer as at the time that verse was written. But if you choose to follow it fine and if you don't want to follow it there is nothing wrong with that.

that's true....
those days it was a custom/ fashion trend for Jewish women to cover their hair. I think it should not be mandatory for women to cover their hair.

VERY well put indeed! Reading the Bible is not enough we must strive for UNDESTANDING!

In my mothers day it was very much the custom for all Irishwomen t cover their hair. Today that custom is no longer followed among the younger generation. Its neither good nor bad - just custom.

Oh yes, we should probably say: God is only concerned about the heart... why not wear bikini to church and shout a loud halleluyah!

Funny Christians! First they onish people to read and apply the scriptures
next they tell you some parts of scripture can be overruled and that disobeying them doesn't make you unholy

1Corinthians 11:5-6,10

But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered... For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

Wow bravo! You might as well say for satan loved the world that he gave his only son that whosoever believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life

covering as used in:

1Corinthians 11:5-6
But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with
her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that
is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the
woman be not covered, let her also be shorn:
but if
it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven,
let her be covered

is different CONTEXTUALLY from covering as used in:

1Corinthians 11:15
But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

If you will not cover your head then shave your hair, but if you hair is long and you'll not want to shave it off for the glory it renders then cover it so that you prophesy and have power on your head...

No wonder we have a lot of lecturers of God but few men of God

Is the bolded not the reason for women covering their head? Custom abi...May God have mercy on our generation...We twist scripture to suit our worldly life style...

2Timothy 3:1-4 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accs, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

We sing we want the old time religion and that it's good for us but here we are upsetting and removing the ancient landmarks set by our ancient fathers and mothers...

Please the original manuscripts are written in Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek. Corinthians in Greek.

And the language and structures used was that of 2000 or so years ago.

We are relying on translations which do not fully convey the exact meaning or gravity in some cases. In fact some words have drastically changed their meaning over such a vast time period. That is why we must look beyond the literal to get the true meaning.

Hiswordxray explained it very well and is very correct.

Furthermore you CANNOT quote a verse without paying attention to the CONTEXT it is in. If we choose things out of context we can make a nonsense out of anything. This was meant to be read as a coherent whole to convey a message.

Hiswordxray:

In the book of first Corinthians Paul gave certain
instructions and he gave a reason for each of these
instructions. Some he said it is directly from the Lord,
another he said it's from the wisdom that God gave
him
, yet another he said it's just an advice. But when it
came to the issue of women covering their hair he said
"Now if anyone is disposed to be argumentative and
contentious about this, we hold to and recognize no
other custom [in worship] than this, nor do the
churches of God generally." (1Cor 11:16).
Paul didn't say didn't say this is directly from the Lord
and he didn't say if women didn't cover their hair they
will go to Hell.
But Paul said this is a custom. Custom tells you what
you need to do to be a part of a group or a society
.
And to be a part of the Church as at that time you must
cover your hair as a woman.
But the gospel tells you what you need to do to make
heaven and have a foretaste of heaven on earth.
Women covering hair is nothing but a custom for
believer as at the time that verse was written
. But if you
choose to follow it fine and if you don't want to follow
it there is nothing wrong with that.

How can it be any clearer than this?

I don't think "most" is accurate. Perhaps "some".

However, this is because it is a bloody abomination to God when you pray to Him with your hair uncovered. Why can't you women just accept that. Times ay have changed, but the Most High remains the same. If he hated homosexuality 5000 years ago, guess what, he hates it today. If he wants women to cover their head when they pray, be obedient, and ask not "why"

Please see the excellent explanation of 'Hiswordxray' which should make matters clear. I rather suspect that it by 'FAITH ALONE' we are saved - not whether or not a womans hair is covered.
