Please suggest when i should sit for GRE next year as I'm planning for Fall 2021.
Can I also get full funding for MSc Chemistry (Organic) with a good GRE score only or do I have to for TOEFL too?
I'm open to school suggestions for funding although I've done my research too.

Not needing TOEFL boils down to the kind of schools he would be applying to. Some schools waive, others don't.

Well you are right to some extent. I didn’t write TOEFL considering its exception from my schools of choice; BGSU, Kansas state Uni, Texas tech uni, Uni of Kansas, Cleveland state uni, Georgia state Uni and George Washington University.
I guess University of Kansas requests for Toefl, but I still applied without Toefl with a modicum of hope.

Try these Princeton tests. The perk of taking Princeton tests is that you get your essays graded. Try it if it's still working. It's supposed to work as many times as possible.
Step 1: Create an with Princeton http://www.princetonreview.com/
Step 2: Go to the homepage and at the footer of the page you'll see ' book'. Enter this ISBN no 9780307944726 and check out. you will be given four full practice tests.
Step 3: Once this is done, a link to the tests will appear on your homepage under "Test Prep Student Tools".
Good luck!

I was like u a year ago, I started following this thread and the other student visa thread about a year ago and have gained alot. My advice for u is that start following this thread and when u see people that are getting ission in engineering follow them and I ask questions.
U can also search best engineering school on Google

Good day everyone.
So I took the GRE on 1st November at Jkk center in Lagos. Had a score of 299, Q-152|V-147|AWA-3.0.
I was so disappointed with my score, I was discouraged about furthering any of my applications. You know, that ginger just disappeared, I was loath to even get recommendation letters from my proposed recommenders. However, I would like to highlight some of the must "dos" and "don'ts" in preparing for the GRE. Please forgive any blunders, also these are just some views I agree with, [as compiled by Profagas].
Some would argue that the GRE is damn EASY even going ahead to compare with JSCE level. But others state different, saying that GRE is so HARD. Well, you can not be sure until you test your legs in it, right? The GRE is a standardized test, meaning they are restricted. They have a standard, they have a particular number of tricks up their sleeves. So the goal must be to discern/identify as much tricks as possible before the test day.
For the Quants, acing the GRE requires three things: 1. Concept 2. Speed 3. Discernment Concept is the actual knowledge you need to know, the rules, formula, theories, method of approach you should know. Speed is completing the task within a specified period of time, you should know of course, the GRE is a timed test. Discernment, meanwhile is the ability to quickly see the answers by inspection, ability to quickly know you’re solving in the wrong way, ability to quickly strike off wrong answers, and the ability to be able to make correct guesses. This is the most important. The gist is if you know all the concepts, and you are fast, but can't discern, you will keep falling for the tricks laid down by ETS. You can finish a section with 10 minutes to spare and get a 9/20. I was so good with the concepts but speed and discernment were my Achilles heel.
There are several prep companies with different books, a lot of them. They all have their weak points and strong points. So number one is the official ETS materials; the trio of the Official guide, official quants practice questions and the official verbal practice questions. You should be over familiar with the content of these books. You should’ve solved all the questions there. All of it, they are the most trustworthy folks. You also need the GRE Maths review, they are also from ETS.
For quants, it’s a worldwide concession, Manhattan 6 books and the 5 lb book of practice question are the best for the concepts. Then you need to watch Magoosh lecture videos. It’s not really about reading, it’s about solving questions. So you should pay attention to questions and HOW THEY ARE SOLVED. Very important. HOW THEY ARE SOLVED. You should watch the Magoosh practice questions videos for this. There are different ways to solve a question and only one ETS way of solving.
The verbal section doesn’t have a formula, no fixed pattern like quants. Just there to frustrate good people. But it’s the GRE. So it can be aced also. For Verbal, Manhattan is quite weak, but you should try to read them (books 7 and . For RC which is the toughest set of questions in verbal, Kaplan is the god. Kaplan chapter 7. For SE and TC, you need to memorize vocabs, a lot of them. Use Magoosh Flashcards on your phone, if you have more time, you can check out Manhattan 1000 and Barron 1000 word list. That should be enough. Help your pacing by answering SE and TC questions first within the first 10 minutes, then the remaining 20 minutes for RC. Also, short ages before long ages.
For AWA, the best is Princeton review.
The point is you don’t need plenty materials. You don’t. In fact, some materials are point blank bad for you. They don’t set ETS-like questions. Don’t use anyhow material you see or mock test you see. Whatever it is you are looking for, is in Manhattan, Magoosh, Kaplan, Princeton, and the ETS materials. That is all. THAT IS ALL. Others are just repetition or bad for you. Don’t spend time going through several sources, reading same thing over and over.
Conclusively, PRACTICE! PRACTICE!! PRACTICE!!! You don't want to be like me who prepared for GRE for aggregate 5 weeks with an 8-4 job. Of course you want to pray about it. Believe me it works. You’ll want to be assured that the Almighty has your back, not even just for the GRE but even graduate studies as a whole.
Create time for yourself, but that doesn't mean you have to stop living life. Be happy. Don't kill yourself. You don't need overnight, don't let it affect your life. It's a terrible thing to be sacked because of GRE overnights. It's just a test. People have gotten full funding with 299. I know there are schools I can apply to.
Let me put my profile here. Please me if you have useful information for me. You can also me if you have specific enquiries about the GRE, or like to get a memo when Leo Messi wins his 7th Ballon D'or.

The good news is that a lot, a whole lot, of Bio Programs are actually dropping the GRE requirement (ok, mostly top and mid-top tier schools). The one saving grace available for you is the research experience angle. Do you have any papers, local or international, or even pre-prints in any ArXiv?. I f you do, then the only thing left would be to push your lecturers to write sparkling LORs for you, filled with glowing testimonies of your research abilities.
also, based on the Reddit and gradcafe folk, it seems a lot of Bio programs like to do interviews before giving PhD offers, so mailing prospective advisors with sweetly crafted emails as early as possible can be of very good help

Funnily enough, a friend of mine sat for GRE in second week of this month. He didn’t do any math review... he answers any Quant question one gives him in seconds without even writing anything down.
He’s such a smart dude... He knows his Verbal is weak, so he concentrated on Verbal... he learnt a few vocabularies and all... he didn’t use powerprep
In the eventual outcome of the test, his Verbal score was extremely low (tho on different test day, we had same score in Verbal) but his Quantitative score was superb (84 percentile)
So basically, the exam is bout what you’re made of. If we have to spend hours prepping for either or both aspect of the tests, it’s because we have deficiency in either or both aspect of the tests.
I’m pretty sure if anyone sees his Quantitative score, such person would be curious to know the materials he used or his depth of practice

That's why it is important to understand yourself and plan your study accordingly.
I personally used only the ETS official books, ETS power prep and Barron's 1100 words for preparation. I knew I do not have the mental rigor to go through other voluminous books. So I focused on the nearest most likely questions I can encounter in the test.

So how’s ission process going? TOEFL is really giving me huge concern.
I don’t have the financial resource for it, I can only squeeze myself to take it.
As such, I narrowed my sch search to schs that waive TOEFL for Nigerians but then the emphasis schs place on TOEFL for GTA is a huge concern.

This is true. I prepared for GRE with Profagas' study plan. And I extracted here what was useful for my GRE prep.
