True, fair enough.
But there are still places were Comic book readers are viewed as nerdy or weird. It's just the movies have significantly raised awareness in places like North America and Europe. Now it looks cool to be a comics geek unlike before.

But here in Nigeria you'll get jeered for that by regular folks. Sometime around December last year a very close neighbor of mine poked fun at my Facebook background cover photo— saying why do I like using cartoonish characters; funny thing is it was Joker's(film) photo. I was too embarrassed to reply, I only just gave her a weak foolish smirk.
Yep, there is definitely nothing great at being seen as a nerd, geek or weirdo.

Every year has it's Winners and Losers at the box office. Some blockbusters which look like surefire bets at times turn out FLOPS; some are Fated to flop, some just outright disappoint and turn flops. Without further ado, here's my "potential FLOP" list in no particular order.
NB: It's just predictions and necessarily doesn't mean it'll turn out exactly as predicted. Just for fun and general Box office outlook.


Sonic: The Hedgehog..... (Paramount)
Just seems Fated to flop, even moreso after it's extra expenses in redesign of Sonic after fans backlash on an estimated $90mn production budget.


Bloodshot....... (Sony)
This looks like an outright FLOP from the Valiant Comics adaptation. Nothing spectacular to draw general public in. Not even Vin Diesel can save it.


The New Mutants ......(Fox/Disney)
This one is a Bloody FLOP with it's numerous change in release dates (4 times)— something we could have seen since 2018! Disney seems Fated to continue losing on this Fox buyout for a while.


Artemis Fowl ....... (Disney)
Looking like a potential FLOP.


Fantasy Island ........ (Sony)
Potential FLOP.


Ghostbusters: Afterlife ...... (Paramount)
Outright FLOP in the making!


Monster Hunter ....... (Sony Screen Gems)
Gonna FLOP. Game adaptations for live action movie have a history of not doing too well at the box office. Even the Director of this movie have a not so glamorous game adaptation history. Although things might be different for Sony's December "Uncharted" movie starring Tom Holland.


Coming To America 2 ......... (Paramount)
Possesses some potential FLOP vibes, coming after 32 years for a sequel! And Eddie Murphy's lost his box office mojo/clout.


GI Joe: Ever Vigilant .......(Paramount)
Possesses outright FLOP vibes.


Dune .......... (Warner Bros.)
Potential FLOP especially since the first live action adaptation was a Flop. I'm hard pressed to include this in my LIST. I honestly don't see it as an outright flop but maybe a lesser disappointment cause of it's Killer CAST. That CAST alone is "Butt in Seats" guaranteed, also Denis Villeneuve has some critical pedigree. Even the release date pushed to December holidays makes it a likely HIT, with slight competition in a season with no Star Wars or clear Box office Juggernaut except The Croods 2.


PS: I just feel this is the most likely WB blockbuster movie to be a FLOP— even a better candidate Flop than Kong vs Godzilla. I just included it to make it more Transparent, objective and seemingly Unbiased.




** Seems Universal escaped...hmmm. it's looking like a super duper YEAR for Universal. IMHO. OOH I FORGOT DOLITTLE, it's out already and a FLOP TOO.

I don't know in what world you think Coming to America will flop.

Eddie starred in Dolemite is My Name and it did very well and had raving review.. Although it a Netflix movies. Eddie hasn't lost his star power. Coming to America is an iconic movie.. And that alone is the selling power, people would want to see what the sequel has to offer, how the characters had changed and developed over the year, It doesn't matter if it 32 years too late, it would do well. I bet if Bad boy 3 hasn't been released you would have said it would flop because it coming out 17 year later.

A gripping flick about a real life event. Screenplay was brilliant, acting & directing were flawless, Foxx really made me tear up at that ending. And to think that the Sheriff, Sheriff Tate who put McMillian through the hellish 6 years of psychological trauma wasn't held able for his actions, was quite unacceptable. McMillian & 160 others were Lucky to be among the people from death row who have been proved innocent and released in the modern era. How i wish this was applicable before this era, folks like George Junius Stinney, Jr, wouldn't have been killed just like that.

Bottom line, Sonic The Hedgehog getting it's premiere date pushed forward from November 8, 2019 to February 14, 2020 is a possible blessing in disguise.

Funny enough, the scary sh.it doesn't start immediately, you might even be like WTF is this flick headed, but trust me, when it eventually kicks off, it never stops till the very end, & being a faint hearted fellow that i am, i was scared sh.itless all through.
