Spinach is a leafy green flowering plant native to central and western Asia. It is of the order Caryophyllales, family Amaranthaceae, subfamily Chenopodioideae. Its leaves are a common edible vegetable consumed either fresh, or after storage using preservation techniques by canning, freezing, or dehydration.

I never see Spinach for our markets before. undecided

The spinach belongs to a family of Amaranths.

Even the popular green amaranth is a spinach as well...Reason it is commonly referred to as lagos spinach.

sokoyokoto (Celosia argentea) Traditional greens throughout western and central Africa; the most widely eaten greens in Nigeria. Leaves, tender stems, and young flowers can all be used like spinach. Culture is similar to the closely related Callaloo. https://www./526850856415515737/

Alefo(efo in yoruba), uwguw, bitter leaves, variety of scent leaves, okro, ewedu- whats the name of the leaves though? (if no yoruba around you then you are no it getting it) were the most common.
