Improvement in power supply recently celebrated across the country may be short-lived as power output generated in the country, on Tuesday, dropped to a record low of 3714.8 megawatts (MW).

According to power output daily report obtainable on the Nigeria System Operator website, the lowest generation on Tuesday was 3118MW as at 15:00 hours while the peak power generation was 3,714.8MW as at 21:45 hours.

Efforts to speak with the spokesperson of the Power holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Mrs. Efuru Igbo, proved abortive as calls to her phone were not answered.

This is the lowest generation in 2013 so far as private investors are expected to take over the successor companies of the unbundled PHCN by mid 2013.

Acute power outage has been a great challenge to the country of over 160 million people. South Africa with about 50 million people is generating an average of 40,000MW while Nigeria is generating an average of 4,000MW which is grossly inadequate for the second largest economy in Africa

We told them back then that it was as a result of raining season as usual but they wouldn't listen.

You're a trouble maker indeed. I should give you a link by all means even when I'm not sure of any. Do you think that the online versions of Nigeria Dailies have everything that they put in the papers online? It may be there or not there, it is left for you to search. I have given you my source and you're free to look for alternative. Thanks.
Hope you're not one of them.

This should not come as a surprise, always the same story year in, year out. It will continue to drop further till the rains come around. Be prepared with your generating sets as the heat comes along.

After all, there may be factor of rainfall in the power output the GEJ /Nnaji is trying to claim glory for. I hope we get to see the usual GEJ dawgs here to provide us with the truth since anybody who does not his govt at any point in time is just too lazy to seek the truth.
The issue of excessive power than what our transmission line can handle being generated may need some attention here.

I have learnt how to ignore childish and ignorant threads/people like these/you on NL. Threads put together by jobless disgruntled MAULAG sttudents just to feed their boredom. It is a waste of time. Anyone who still thinks the rain is responsible for increased power, with gas plants coming on stream every now and then, is not only ignorant but uninteligent. There is nothing to debate there. It is a fools journey and I aint interested, thank you!
