Three gunmen fired into a group of people preparing for evening prayers in a business district of the city, the largest in Nigeria’s mainly Muslim north, police spokesman Magaji Majia told AFP.

“The three gunmen came on a motorcycle around 6:00 pm and opened fire on a group of people getting ready for the evening prayers at a popular tea-selling spot opposite the zoo,” Majia said.

One person was also injured in the attack.

Gunmen thought to belong to Islamist extremist group Boko Haram have done scores of such shootings in Nigeria’s north, though criminal gangs also carry out violence under the guise of the group.

Violence related to Boko Haram’s insurgency has left some 3,000 people dead since 2009, including killings by the security forces.

No attack has ever been made/directed at muslim worshippers inside a mosque, unlike how christians have been attacked while worshipping INSIDE churches.

Brilliant Post ! Its either that or probably 2 different Islamic sects (Sunni vs Shia) fighting again . Its nothing new.

First, I condemn any form of attack by any group on any Nigerian under the guise of any believe. Secondary, the topic is a bit misleading. The three people killed were actually preparing to go for prayer not that they were attacked in the mosque. The journalist is only trying to spark up war between xtians and Muslims or trying to justify that the killing is done to both xtians and Muslims.

The reporter of this news is a fool.
The 3 people killed were not killed in a mosque,so we can infer that the attack was not targeted at muslims.This is because anybody in that gathering would have been killed.
Commenting on those that carried out the attack,they are obviously muslims as terrorism has become synonymous with the religion of islam.
