The Lagos State Government says it plans to phase out yellow buses in accordance with its transportation masterplan of the state.

Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, said this in a virtual forum on Thursday, adding that the busses would be replaced by blue buses.

The virtual forum was titled ‘Transport and traffic conference’.

He said, “We are reforming the bus sector and over time, Lagos will phase out the yellow buses because the yellow buses are not conducive for a mega city like Lagos. That is why we are coming with blue buses you see around.

“We are inviting the private sector to participate in the provision of public transport services. We are also deploying technology just to ensure that we can up our game in of efficiency.”

Responding to questions raised regarding the Apapa gridlock, the commissioner said the government was committed to ending the traffic menace by committing hectares of land in Iganmu and Ogun as transit truck parks while relying on the Eto app which would be deployed on February 27.

He said, “Lagos State in collaboration with the Nigerian Ports Authority invited a concessionaire and that concessionaire developed an Eto app that will be deployed February 27.

“Lagos State has committed 31 hectares of land in Iganmu called the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Truck Park to complement what is at Lilypond and we are talking to the Ogun State Government to secure a land in Ogere.”

Similarly, Oladeinde said, the state had come up with a parking strategy named the Lagos State Parking Strategy. He disclosed that a parking authority had been set up with the mandate to regulate parking on the roads.

They should start already! They've been saying this for long!

Meanwhile, creating parking space for trucks and an app will not decongest traffic gridlock at apapa. Opening and making use of other ports will.

Bye bye to one chance. Security agents in the state should also brace up for robbers that have become jobless due to danfo ban. NURTW holds so much power in the state that they can decide who the governor will be. They are menace. I wonder what would become of these monsters they made

It’s actually a beautiful idea. So indirectly they’re making these thugs go extinct one by one.

I actually like the new LAMATA card

When anything comes repeatedly over a period of time without the accompanying action, it becomes boring, irrelevant, irritating.

Unfortunately, this Apapa gridlock issue has become so over time. We want to see implementation, not vain repetitions of intent...

Another fvcking Soundbite from clueless and docile Sanwolu istration.

Okada is banned but okada still everywhere growing in numbers per day. Okada even ply Alausa and in front of the governor's office per second.

One-way traffic is banned but korope, danfo and anyone in uniform fly one-way from airport road to Apapa to Lekki.

Street trading is outlawed but even the governor's convoy cannot Orile, Iyana Iba, Igando etc due to the activities of street traders.

Sanwolu and any other governor in Lagos state will continue being a disaster as long as they do not have the political balls to implement the extant laws in Lagos state due to their fear of Iyaloja(Tinubu's mama family business), Mc Oluomo's army of area boys, who are basically used for election purposes.

I've waited for this to happen for too long. It's about time we have good buses on our roads. Scrap all these tetanus buses!

Don't pity lagosians, pity yourself. It's not bad to hope for something better. Many of the people you quoted don't even take danfo, they have their own cars. Hoping for a better lagos and a better world isn't a bad thing

It’s a good idea no doubt.

The problem is the after effect of the development which I believe will not be temporary

We hope it is not about the colour but about the efficiency and neatness of the buses.
The Danfo drivers should be given adequate orientation and carry along in all these.

We don't see this happening in the next 5 years anyways.
