Normal Semen Analysis Results Count (the number of sperm) – sperm concentration is the number of sperm per milliliter. Average concentration is about 60 million per milliliter. A sperm concentration of over 20 million per milliliter is considered normal. Motility (the percentage of moving sperm) – Motility is considered normal when at least 50% of observed sperm, show good forward movement. These are the strongest sperm, swimming fast in a straight line (Grade 4). Some of the sperm may be moving slower in a circle or in crooked lines (Grade 3). Other sperm move their tail but have no forward motion (Grade 2) or fail to move at all (Grade 1). Morphology (the size and shape of the sperm) – Morphology is considered normal if 14% or more of the observed sperm have normal shape. Volume – greater than 2.0 milliliters is considered normal. A low volume may reflect complete or partial blockage of gland secretions contributing to the seminal fluid. If the volume is less than 1 milliliter, the semen may not be in close enough proximity to the cervix to allow sufficient sperm to swim up to the uterus and fallopian tube. White Blood Cells - Finding bacteria or white blood cells in the semen indicate that an infection may be present. A semen culture may identify the organism involved and antibiotics can be prescribed to resolve the problem. A repeat semen analysis usually follows. PH level - normal pH range is 7.2 – 8.0. Too little or too much acid in the semen is detrimental to the sperm. Liquefaction – It normally takes less than 20 minutes for semen to change from a thick gel into a liquid. An unusually long liquefaction time may indicate an infection. Fructose level - Semen is analyzed for fructose when there is no sperm in the ejaculate (azoospermia) or if the semen volume is very low (less than 1 ml). Absence of fructose in the semen may indicate blockage of the seminal vesicles which secrete a significant amount of the fluid of the ejaculate. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Goodevening Mummies. I have a issue of concern with my menstrual flow. I am 28yrs old and before the age of 20, I used to have a normal regular flow from 3-4days. But since 22, i have been experiencing irregularities during menstruation. Most times my period lasts for just 2days and usually very light, some other times, 3days. I took time to study the reason for such irregularities. I checked my stress level and diet, everything was appropriate. I consulted a Doctor and explained everything to him and he prescribed some drugs including insertions. I followed it religiously but no results yet. i went on to see another Doctor and sent me out for lab test, yet nothing was found. What can I do to normalize this? I am getting married soonest and I pray it does pose as a problem during conception. I need your kind replies ASAP. Thanks |

shadow88:Different hormones work at different times with different proportions to achieve pregnancy. Estrogen at the beginning of the cycle to help the eggs mature and rupture and progesterone helps the uterine walls thicken to help the fertilised egg to implant to the uterus. Progesterone is usually given after ovulation has occurred to help implantation and to the foetus until the placenta is formed (usually around 12 weeks). I sincerely have never heard of Progesterone being prescribed from CD1 but who knows? Your doctor might have a different approach he's working on. I'd suggest you have him/her explain the procedure to you....and also seek a second opinion to put your mind at ease. 3 Likes |

sugah:On CD 15, ovulation would taken place and if pregnancy is achieved, dusphaston would help to build the uterine lining to avoid miscarriage just my one cent |
sugah: 2:30pm On Dec 05, 2020 |
Jellos:Thats why she's confused. Progesterone is usually prescribed/istered after ovulation not before cos it can hinder ovulation. 1 Like 1 Share |

Good evening mamas. Please what is the best drug to induce menses with and regulate cycles immediately? Primolut n or some birth control pills? If birth control, would postinor 2 do the work? I took fertilaid which didn’t work for me and it made my cycle very irregular. I’m on CD32 now yet no ovulation. Cycle before this was CD68. Yes, I have been tracking with strips and TVS. Again, I used clomid about 3 years ago (4 cycles) and it didn’t work for me, even though it made me ovulate well. A gynae suggested letrozole, are they not same thing? Do they react same way? Are there people that didn’t conceive with clomid but did with letrozole? Please come to my aid oh. Hmmmm... thanks. Cc: tripletwins222 and futuremoma34 |

[quote author=duchessgoddess post=96798722]Good evening mamas. For inducing period I think duphaston is better than primolut. Then for ovulation,I used letrozole the cycle I conceived though clomid had never worked for me.But you should be monitored while taking it.Baby dust |

futuremoma34: I’m in Lagos. I used a gynae the time I used clomid and was monitored. The doctor gave me a wrong prescription, he “thought I had pcos”. Long story. Clomid messed up my cycle. Gave me many annovulatory cycles after I stopped using it. |
