It is a random bug. I believe it will be fixed soon. If you don't have any issues there is nothing to worry about.

What I mean is this - Right now I have the feature disabled on my device. I want to enable it in case my phone gets stolen but I'm afraid to do so because I don't know if the bug has been fixed yet.

Leave it disabled. Police don't make use of find my device to track and I believe your Mi signed in is a layer of protection

It is there, from recent apps you hold down the app and use the padlock button. MIUI 12 didn't change what has been on MIUI since time immemorial
