I will like to hear from the other side. The woman's story doesn't jive. Where was she when the husband was sick?. Where was she when the burial is taking place?. She didn't raise alarm when all the above was happening. Now, she is raising alarm because of property. I wish she would have raised this alarm then and not now.

I use to pity some of all this widows until I figure what some families figure. That is they are in it for money them self. If you struggle with any man, the family know and you earn respect. But not when in a communual Africa, the mother sell her gold and wrapper and the brothers borrow him money to pay rent at some point and a distant uncle paid his 200level school fees. Then you the woman emerge half way to claim everything. No way! communual it came communual it will return. If she has a child she will be Cartered for and seizable portion given to her. But to say the family should not get anything is unAfrican like. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Even before reading it, I know the culprit will be from Igbo. The same thing they are trying to do with my sister in-law that was killed in this #endsars protest. The family has been informed since Monday 15-10-2020 about the incident. Non of them has shown up. Only for his father and one of his brother to surface yesterday 29-10-2020, saying rubbish about property and the man's bank accout. Not even where the corpse of his son is lying and how to give him a befitting burial. They can do that bullshit with others but not to a full blown Delta man.

sylve11: As a traveller and dweller, all my life, I haven't seen anywhere where this stuff is so prevalent if not in black countries. The black man is more wicked than the level of wickedness that obtains internationally on average - this is a statistical fact - you can see it from thus thread, female pant for ritual, looting of private businesses, army opening fire on civilians for personal gain of Tinubu son etc. 1 Like |

Irony of life, she is a CATERER but could not CATER for 5 children . My question is why did she leave her husband at home and went to Ondo when he was that terribly sick.

onez: You are intelligent. A woman whose sick husband was taken away for treatment without her knowledge until the husband died. A woman that did not take part in her husband's burial These are signs they were not in good till he died or she abandoned the man and was staying with her family in Ondo. Why didn't she raise alarm if her husband was abducted? Why didn't she raise alarm if she was denied to partake in her husband's burial? Why is it now after the coast is clear, and she wants property that we are hearing this? I won't judge until I hear from the other side. The imo story opened my eyes. 7 Likes |

Full time housewife is a problem. Marriage is between both families, so if your in-laws don't like you, you will be in hot soup but bear everything for now cos when they grow up you will be proud of them.

My thoughts: Wife abandoned her husband in his critical condition and travelled with her children to be with her parents. Husband's sibblings came and took him to hospital. His case had become too bad that he couldn't pull through. Man died and the sibblings became embittered and wanted to punish the woman. The wife can still pursue her case in court. She is/was a bad wife nonetheless. 7 Likes |

ERockson:Igbo and weird customs I have witnessed two of such dealings with their own ladies. They are heartless. When my Landlady's daughter's husband died, the husband's siblings took her to the couple's bedroom, allowed her to take her clothes and jewelleries sent her and her children packing, and sized the husband's businesses. This lady is a Master degree holder. The husband would not allow her to work. God forbid any of my children bringing yamirin home for marriage. |

She stated, “I travelled home to Ondo State to be with my mum when I was pregnant with my twin girls and by the time I returned to Abuja, my husband had been taken away to an unknown location, because he had a crisis. We were not allowed to see him until we were informed that he had died in August 2018." Your husband was critically I'll and you travelled and leave him, then his siblings found out and took him for medication. 3 Likes |

sylve11: I have a friend from Kogi whose brothers took away property from their brother wife. Same story happened in Ogoja Cross River State. It happens, it's not about tribe. 2 Likes |

nedekid: I read through her story and I felt bad, the in-laws were wicked and should be dealt with accordingly but her bringing tribalism to this is uncalled for. Many Igbo women have suffered in the hands of their in-law as a result of their husbands demise though they were Igbos. There several examples of this in the past so she is not the first nor the only woman to have suffered this fate. Let her do her best via court proceedings to get back her properties, thank you. NB not all Yoruba women that married Igbo men have this same issue, my late uncle married from Osun and the woman is fully in charge of all his properties. 3 Likes |

Now we can see the importance of having siblings. Imagine that man didn't have siblings? He would have died and decayed in his house when the wife was not around. Well, the family should give the woman the property. Their brother is worth more than material things.

Based on my knowledge of Nigerians the family believe she was the cause of her husband's ulcer and that she did it with juju. They were warned by the juju con man not to allow her see the dead body and other stupid things.
