Let them look for slums like in their slumpolis. What they don't know slums occupy 2% of Nairobi landmass. Their small segment near first that is like an acre in high ridge.

You're both mentally colonised and cognitively challenged. Let someone else explain the obvious. You've inadvertently proved my case 120%!

Old Africa unencumbered by false teachings of guilt and morality was a much less neurotic place than today.

I understand your point of view now. bwe've both been talking different things. I share your sentiments on the way africans dressed originally...no African tribe anywhere ever wore clothes at the beginning of time..at least there isn't any evidence to prove otherwise.

but bro, I was disputing your claim that the Yoruba tribe just copied and clothes their design's from the marauding 'colonisers' . those design's and patterns were PECULIAR to the Yoruba's at that time! that's all.

there were certainly not many african tribes with clothes 200 years ago....the Yoruba's were among those select few who had.

Africans didn't see any immortality in baring it all till the Europeans came and imposed it on us and now it's our reality.

kikuyu1:

I only recently verified this anecdote of an early Kikuyu custom the name of which totally escapes me practiced maybe once or twice a year dating back thousands of years to the Egyptian days. It was a fertility ritual which means thinly disguised mating ritual.
Unlike many others Kikuyu women were free to chose their own husbands. At dances they'd pick out their intended. There was another aspect of the tradition I first heard back in 91 from a 90+ yr old Ggrand uncle who died some 7 yrs ago when he'd have been at least 116.
Apparently a couple would be chosen to perform which is to say eff in front of the gathering. Reason being what better way for brides to be to learn what goes where and how?
Everyone was free to in- ers by,brides and their intended, village mates, even perfect strangers were ALL encouraged to fully 'enjoy' each other. I recently read an anthropological confirming this story but IIRC if it was LSB Leakey, Fr Cagnolo, Stoneham, Johnson or Franklin Tate; I'll supply the source as soon as I confirm.
Point being? Don't project your foreign misconceptions onto Africans.

dude so you're saying they actually mated in front of all to feast their eyes on? shocked shocked

obviously in pre- colonial times this was acceptable. the kikuyu's wouldn't dare practice such today....or do they? I might just hop on the next Nairobi bound flight grin

but you can't generalize this for all African tribes because even some 300 years ago I know this would still have been labelled IMMORAL in my tribe (YORUBA) .... haven't read any ritual or rite even close to that perfomed by the Yoruba's.

by the way, Africans in general should give themselves a break. the things we're practicing today ( democracy, secularism, capitalism etc ) are still new to us no matter how old the country is. these whites basically forced their ways on us which have now become the worlds norm.

America has been a democratic state for more than a 100 years...before they perfected things so many things happened..wars, strife and all.

it'll still take Africa some time to find it's feet IMO.

Don't waste your attention on that jealous hater- kikuyu1 !
Which tribe wore clothes at the beginning of time?
And civilization wasn't something that happened to different parts of the world at the same time. The Asians got it before the Europeans. Probably Africans even got it before the Asians. How are we sure that textile making did not start in Africa? You should look at ancient rock paintings in the sahara around West Africa to see that a lot went on in West Africa in ancient times that probably spread to other parts of the world.
If yorubas had sericulture( silk making) as far back as the middle ages, where were the Kenyan tribes then? There is no link given by him to prove Yoruba's sericulture wasn't an homegrown thing.
Even if the Yorubas had learnt it from interactions with Arabs, how is that a bad thing? Whatever civilization the Arabs had also was influenced by other civilizations.
Kenyans also had a lot of interactions with Arabs and the Chinese hundreds of years ago but failed to use such to modify and improve what they had before then. They lack any meaningful homegrown stuff in of civilization.

I tell you, the colonial mentality in these Kenyans is second to none.
