I saw it coming. One prophet even prophesied that Orji Kalu will emerge the next President in 2023 and some people laughed at the Prophet saying a prisoner cannot be president.
my own is not prophet but a man from akwa ibom told me they will release him last week, that they are grooming the corrupt idiot's for leadership of this, I was busy arguing with him, this country is shame.

Many persons on nairaland don't read. The supreme court ordered for a retrial not an acquittal based on the irregularity of the former trial conducted so basically he's not off the hook.

It ain't a matter of reading, we just know the nature of how these things go in Nigeria. THIS CASE IS AS GOOD AS DEAD

Supreme Court order for retrial.

He has not been acquitted. He is to start his trial afresh.

He still have cases to answer. The emphasis is necessary.
You can"t read the script, can you?

If all these things we see happening today happen in the 70's the military would have taken over this government. Every facets of this country reeks of corruption.

[The Truth is the guy stole to some extent but under his governance workers weren't owed, roads in a Aba were still pliable, and he made sure the "common wealth" was well distributed. The only mistake he made was putting T.A orji who now stole abia dry and also to some extent allowing his mother to have a say in the government. Aside these, the man is good really.

Look as the reason for nullifying the conviction.
This is purely a bought judgement.
Some times we need to cut this judges some slack. The basis of this judgement is fair to Kalu, the lower court should be blamed. The judge that sentenced Kalu did not have any power to do so. Be it technical as it is, it is a strong point for the defence under law. The supreme Court couldn't have done otherwise once it was proven, so we cannot blame them. Infact, doing the opposite would be complete miscarriage of Justice against the defendant. He may be guilty but a new judge, qualified to pronounce it under the law will have to do so.

Well said.

With those folks there is no tribe when they are pillaging.

However, they quickly bring up and sponsor tribal sentiments when they fallout. cheesy

Supreme court judges are no longer reliable. Nobody argued whether he stole the money or not, they just got paid to focus on technicalities bordering on jurisdiction to set him free.
Fighting corruption indeed.
It depends on what the appellant brought forward before the judge. U don't expect the judge to be look into what is not before him.
Blame the council representing fg, cause why ll they allow a judge that was already appointed as Appeal court to deliver judgement.

He is not walking out; the case is being re-assigned for fresh trial because the judge who found him guilty, was already a Justice and therefore (technically) should not have presided over the case.
