I think I shared my thoughts about this last week. Going by the demographics and the characteristics of Bernie’s ers, I doubt they would do any differently than they did 4 years ago. Bernie endorsing Biden early is great but the landscape which has been grossly affected by the COVID-19 does not help in hyping this move. There is barely any space for anything other than COVID in the political sphere right now and that favors Trump tremendously. Bernie only represents their ideology, he is not the ideology and that means they would rather sit than vote anyone who does not represent that ideology in candidacy.
Trump is going to get a lot of sympathy votes from the swing states irrespective of what happens with the economy because swing states require time for intense campaign which the Democrats don’t have right now, so more than likely, the swing states may vote as they did 4 years ago. He is going to harp on his economic achievements before the COVID and be rest assured that he not losing any grounds with his base.
The swing states are the most important votes, not necessarily Bernie’s ers. The Democratic Party need Bernie’s ers to present a united front against Trump, not necessarily because it is the joker to winning the election. The swing states is the reason behind backing Biden who is considered a moderate and more appealing to conservative voters than an extremely left candidate like Bernie who may assure you popular votes but not enough swing votes to win electoral colleges.

Man! That was a shocker..The result especially the margin shocked me but not as much as the turnout despite the COVID-19 and it is also worthy to note that Wisconsin is a swing state. The decision by the judge to go ahead with the election was bold to say the least.

However, you have to be careful with how you interpret that result and here is why. The result of the Wisconsin election was buoyed by the large turn out in urban cities like Milwaukee, Madison, Kenosha, Eau Claire, Janesville (bare in mind most of these cities are college towns) etc as rural areas recorded low turnouts and those are strong republican holds. The low turn outs in the rural areas is strongly associated with the fact that they are older and more vulnerable to the COVID so they invariably stayed home for this one.
