In 2015 edition, it caused problem between YBNL and Marvin. When DonJazzy told Olamide "err, egbon Olamide. If you want the car, come and collect". That was after Reekado Banks won it over Lil Kesh, Kizz Daniel, Cynthia Morgan and Korede Bello.

In 2016 edition, Tekno rejected the nomination. Just like Zlatan, he felt he had hits and was way above Aramide, Ycee, Mr Eazi and Humblesmith.

Dearest Zlatan, it is not to by carrying coloured hair upandan like Hades. Ask your management for orientation on how these nominations are done. Not like you deserve it sef.

Anyway, if you have been singing for 2yrs, with 10 hits, badass videos, 3M Instagram followers and NO OFFICIAL ALBUM- you very much fit into the Next Rated Category. However, if you have an album (in the year under review) as a new artiste, you are ineligible for this award and can try the HIPHOP REVELATION CATEGORY.
