The only thing that annoys me about this border closure is the failure of the government to plan how to tackle the possible effects it might have on the ordinary Nigerians especially,in the area of rice rice supply and distribution.How can a bag of local rice rise up to 17- 18 k from 12-13k and you are telling us that you are discouraging snuggling .How you want to address the distribution chains we don't know . Shouldn't a sensitive and sensible government considered this before the border closure ,? Seems they don't care bout us .

Now imagine the Federal Government leaving the borders closed for another 3years,...lemme remind you that any business that brings in good money in Nigeria will be 'flooded' till the business crashes or becomes less profitable. Thirdly, a bag of rice in Lagos now cost between 18K and 19K per 50KG bag while Derica tin poor man buys between 220 and 250 naira now cost between 350 and 400 naira and still increasing. This is the imported rice price and the only rice in traditional local / open market. In South West, South South and South East Nigeria where I spent months on local rice availability research, there is no Lake, Olam or any other locally produced rice in the open market. Coscharis may make rice available in the East but not yet.

There is no GLUT in the rice production sector in Nigeria, no availability in the market. The President, NSA and Customs CG are all from the Nigerian Army, I think the Staff College, War College and NIPSS courses in those days were very defective about management.
