We shouldn't be bitter about this development in Ghana, not all investors will be in Nigeria. What we want is development in Africa, especially in West Africa which has been overtaken by North and Southern Africa.

So what does Nigeria get ![]() They know that the business climate in Nigeria is bad. No electricity to power such industries, poor policy implementation and other several factors. 5 Likes |

I said it, free trade in Africa is to Nigeria's detriment. We don't have power and security, so multinational companies will be siting industries in neighbouring countries with better electricity supply and at same time targeting Nigeria's 200 million market, the largest in Africa. What a cursed country And worthless leaders. 18 Likes 3 Shares |

What do y'all expect from a supposed president that failed math, economics, never took commerce or any other business study in his invincible waec? Has always ruled by decrees and subjugation. Empty skull president. Spits..if the meeting in Japan were to do with cattle or herdsmen, buhari would have been the chairperson of the occasion. Brainless bat

mgbadike81: See what I said a few days ago on the Coscharis/Ford issue. * Industrialisation is like a spiders web, one factor broken and the whole system collpses into a viscious cycle of foreign dependency. * By the time we start importing automibiles from west coast plants our shame will be complete. Michellin left Nigeria for Ghana a few years ago. We no longer make tyres in Nigeria. You can imagine if we were still making tyres and Dangote comes up with his plants, slowly the pieces fall into place and in a generation we become completely self sufficent in automibile manufacture. That is how it happens. * For folks saying how can we afford automobiles I hope your stupidity is clear to all since you insinuate by that, that the purchasing power of the average Ghanian is higher than that of the Nigerian. When Ghana begins to earn hard currency from Nigeria your eyes will become open to the need to encourage industrialists at home. All Nigerians are experts in is tribalism and religious bigotry while other nations push ahead. I just hope the Toyota deal to Ghana is not true and Nigeria still gets a chance to attract something or else Mr. President should return to nigeria ASAP, calling up Mr. Coscharis on the flight home. I long for a time we will have leadership that is madly keen, driven in their sleep and wake to have something productive on ground. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

TSRC: Davash222: Unfortunately, because that is who Nigeria wanted. We said they should choose two accomplished businessmen with international s, but they instead chose a person who doesn't understand business or economics. This is what happens. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Nigeria is not stable for any foreign investment, except the power sector. Ghana is a great option.

This is sad. Nigeria is the highest consumer of Toyota products in Africa and one of the highest in the world. Poor economic policies, terrible power supply, duplicity of taxation and insecurity has finished this country. Industrialization is one of the most difficult tasks in dis country and our forex is also a mess. Big ups to Ghana and Toyota. Shame to this country. 8 Likes |

while an individual trying on his own private capacity to grow the automobile industry in Nigeria is being frustrated with court cases and unfavourable policies by the power that be.

For the South to progress, we need to separate from the North. All they care about is holding on to power. Nigeria can burn for all they care.

we need to think deeply about these things. It will be foolish for Toyota to setup an assembly plant in Nigeria because Nigeria does have a market for new automobile. let's analyze it, in Japan, USA, UK, etc, a graduate who gets his first job can afford to buy a new car via a flexible payment plan. We don't have such a system in Nigeria, instead the likes of Coscharis, Innoson, and Nissan that assemble cars in Nigeria have to depend on banks, a few companies, government purchase via civil service, security agency, and MDA's to survive. Toyota coming to Nigeria will simply mean that they are here to compete for government purchases it simply doesn't make any business sense. And before we point fingers at Buhari, this trend has been in play for more than 20years, Nigeria has a huge population with low purchasing power that can't afford new vehicles.

3 out of 4 cars in Nigeria is Toyota and where else can the company make huge sales if not in Nigeria compared to Ghana. Our lifeless president went their for selfies, photoshoot and Photoshop. Buhari may not even be able to answer questions or talk reasonably. Shame on this man.
