A Twitter has alleged that a 21-year-old boy is being forced to marry because he has the SS genotype, and this has angered Twitter s.



The family of the boy allegedly fear that he may not live long due to his ailment so they have found a girl with the AA genotype and are trying to get him to marry her so he can have a child to succeed him.



A number of Twitter s condemned this action while some have said it's common in Nigeria and parents do this for young men who are only sons or have the SS genotype.

I think the parents are being selfish here.
If the boy dies what would be the fate of the young wife?
How long would the boy's wife depends on her in laws to sort her bills? (I guess the boy is not yet working)
Can they allow their daughter to marry an SS boy and let her be a widow at a tender age?
Finding another husband for the girl might be difficult considering the stigma our society attaches with "after one".

I can relate, our first son is also SS and there was huge pressure from the extended family that he should marry in his early 20s despite not being the only son but he married in his 30s.

Half story. I don't trust this bloggers.

Firstly, they've taken the right step by matching the boy with an AA genotype. Secondly, I hope the female involved consented a 100% to the match or else it's a NO for me. In this case the parents of the lady involved has no say on this, only the lady involved, and she should be aware of the dangers and consequences if any poses a threat.

Why are they forcing the innocent young man to marry. Let him live life abeg.
