General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has created fresh controversy on taking of the Holy Communion, saying it is an aberration for churches to take it during the day time.

Almost all churches in Nigeria and all over the world take the Lord Supper (Holy Communion) during service time in the day.

But Adeboye said whenever he attended other churches, he always desisted from taking the Lord’s Supper because it is wrong.

Speaking at the Holy Communion service at the just-concluded 67th convention of the church at the new auditorium at the Redemption Camp, Adeboye, who preached on the importance of the Holy Communion in line with the theme of the convention which is “And God Said,” pointed out that “the first time the over was taken in the Bible, it was taken in the night on the eve of the Israelites freedom from Egypt. Jesus also took it in the night with his disciples.”

According to him, whenever he is invited to some churches and they were serving Holy Communion in the day, he would decline taking by simply stating: “I am fasting.”

Adeboye posited that taking of the Holy Communion at night is symbolic, adding that “Tears may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning. The night period is symbolic. It means the end of sorrow. It means the end of suffering. It means the end of stagnation. The supper is taken in the night and not in the day.”

He explained further the Holy Communion is a serious matter and should not be taken unworthily.

“Many are eating it unworthily that is why they are experiencing so many things they should not experience. You can’t come to the Lord’s Table and bear grudges and harbor hatred in your heart against your brother or sister. You will be doing yourself a great harm,”

Pastor adeboye needs someone to reboot his brain, he has being talking trash in recent times,he claimed he took tea with God in the morning so why can't he take the holy Communion in the morning too.

Holy communion is a food for the soul and not a food for the body. It enriches the soul and not the body. The communion is taken when you're in the state of grace, and doesn't matter if you took it in the morning or at night.

There is a little mix up here. The over meal that started on the eve of Exodus from Egypt and continued in the Promised land took place in the evening. over meal is about the deliverance of children of Isreal from slavery through to freedom in the land of Canaan as God promised Abraham.

On the other hand, the Christian Holy Communion was instituted by Jesus Christ himself during his last over meal with his Apostles prior to his arrest, trial and crucifixion.

Significantly, the BLOOD of everlasting covenant we drink at Holy Communion was shed by Jesus during the day on cross. In the same manner, the BODY of Christ we eat was sacrificed on the same cross during the broad day light. Unlike over meal, Holy Communion signifies deliverance from power of sin through Christ as promised by God through the words of His prophets.

However the LEGALISTIC emphasis on timing of Holy Communion is simply unnecessary. It sounds like Pharisees' legalistic observance of Sabbath, which Jesus condemned. The truth is that the ACT of taking of Communion and TIME it is taken are very much INFERIOR to the FRUITS the act is meant to produce: uncompromising love for God and sincere show of love (care, forgiveness, comion, etc) for fellow human beings.

I'm not here to criticize but i don't think there's anywhere in the bible where it was specified you take the holy communion at night, if u have any biblical backing to it let me know please so i can learn.

The over was eaten at night but Jesus' communion can be eaten anytime.
